Don’t think you’d insult a player with his background by suggesting they have a trial ! Most players at Southern League level play on match to match deals anyway so they come and go at clubs all the time.

Believe Bracknell listed 2 triallists in their final preseason game on Saturday. If Alex was termed as a triallist it maybe a "red tape" thing used at this stage if he hasn't actually signed. Just have to watch the Bracknell social media and see, be quite a coup to sign him given he was in the FL last season, even though he's 36 in November.

Pearcey strikes me as the sort who'd maybe make a good coach. Not quick or naturally skillful, so had to make it through hard work and learning to read the game well.

If he goes that way would like to have him back some day.

He’s already managed in the Championship so does seem he might be interested in that side of the game

Luke Southwood saves a penalty in Bolton's shootout last night, helping them through.

Did we let someone rather good go there?

Better than Bouzanis and Andresson it seems. Maybe Button.

I think everyone has always considered him a good keeper. I don’t think we should have let him go, but you can’t keep everyone. He’s done well to be playing again so soon as it was reported he broke his leg in Cheltenham’s last game of the season didn’t he ?

Alex Pearce confirmed at Bracknell Town.
Will be interesting to see how he gets on. Not sure playing more than half his games on 3G will be good for him and there are some very rapid players in this division who will test him, but his experience will be good for Bracknell.

I expect he'll definitely recognise his failings in how he managed us, showing humility and growth

Found myself in Welling Uniteds Park View Stadium on Saturday.

Wellings assistant manager being our own once upon a time, Kevin Watson.

Alen Halilovć, fleetingly of this manor, scored Fortuna Sittard's 1,000 Eredivisie goal, against Almere City on Friday.

Was a massive fan of Kevin Watson. A fantastic passer of the ball; a really elegant player. In many ways he made more of a difference when he came in at the same time as John Salako as part of Pardew's big change that turned our fortunes around. Sounded like a smart bloke too - I'm a bit surprised he's not working a bit further up the pyramid.

He was superb wasn't he. I think he's working his way up the ladder, a player of his intelligence would be a great asset to many teams' coaching staff I'd imagine.

He’s been kicking around the non league coaching scene for quite a while. Don’t think many people climb from assistant manager in the NLS to the FL ! Suspect it’s more likely he’s got outside interests and being a part time coach fits in with those. It is quite fun seeing names from the past rock up on opposition coaching staff.

Wasn’t that where he was on loan, and struggled to get a game ?

nah, not Wealdstone.

However (and take your pick), between January 2023 and the close of last season he amassed a grand total of twelve games playing for FGR(4) , Borehamwood(5) and Yeovil(3).

Caylan Vickers started for Brighton-U21 tonight vs. Crawley. Game ended 2:2.

If you play for the U21s in a competitive/professional match, ie. A cup. Does it count as an appearence?

He was subbed off.

Yes it will, usually under "other appearances" bracket.

In other news one time highly rated Reading academy midfielder Diamond Edwards has now joined Port Vale on a 1 year permanent deal from Southampton. He's now 20 (he'd probably be part of the 1st team here if he'd been persuaded to stay).
