Hendo I want to say someone like Doncaster in the 2006/07?
IIRC Peter Maté scored the winning pen.

Not quite. Mate scored our third goal in regulation time. Our other, more storied loan centre back, Andre Bikey, scored the winning penalty.

SutekhwindermereROYAL Beat West ham on the evening of 9/11, Wycombe away around 3 years ago.
As far as I can make out the full record on penalty shoot outs is this:
Won
Lost
- Feb 1993 - Exeter City (a) (League Trophy thing) L 4-2
- Feb 1998 - Cardiff City (h) (FAC4) W 4-3
- Sep 2001 - West Ham (h) (LC2) W 6-5
- Jan 2003 - Walsall (h) (FA3) L 4-1
- Sep 2006 - Darlington (h) (LC2) W 4-2
- Sep 2008 - Stoke City (a) (LC3) L 4-3
- Sep 2010 - Northampton (h) (LC2) L 4-2
- Aug 2016 - The Franchise thing (h) (LC2) W 4-2
- May 2017 - Huddersfield (n) (POF) L 4-3
- Aug 2019 - Wycombe (a) (LC1) W 4-2
- Sep 2019 - Wolves (a) (LC3) L 4-2
- Feb 2020 - Cardiff City (a) (FAC4) W 4-1
- Aug 2023 - Ipswich Town (h) (LC2) L 4-1
So Reading have played 13 of the things and won 6, seems to be a record that's pretty much what you'd expect for any team really.

So, if you haven't missed any, looks like we are on a run of win one/lose one over the last 7 shoot-outs - so when we make the play-off final at the end of the season, we better hope it goes to penalties![]()
Unless we have a shoot-out in the FA Cup of course.

Keeps the win one/lose one sequence since 2016 going. Will lose the next one then.

Its skewed though that they happen in cups usually when we have academy players taking them where its often their first real moment of pressure.

Lita at Stoke FFS although, in a moment you might appreciate, I did turn round to find I was stood next to Willow.

Didn't we also win on penalties v Charlton last season R32 EFL Trophy too and then lose on penalties to Brighton U21 in R16?
