Monger as much doom as you like buddy.

It's just a case of tying up loose ends, any day now and this will all be forgotten.

The problem is that Couhig hugely raised expectations at and before the Wigan game and we all thought it was basically done.

If the local press had done their job properly last week they would have sought clarification on who "the other side" was....I believe he made the comment to someone in the press...

It was Dellor so no big shock there.

Millsy I was going to write something here but I realise I have nothing useful to say and all it will achieve is bump the thread to the top and give people false excitement.

So I have decided against it. Therefore please ignore this post.
It's a sticky thread, it'll stay at the top even if nobody posts to it

They're not supposed to be saying anything, so hints and allusions is going to be the best they'll give.

At this point, I'd just settle for not loosing any more players. Feels like it's unlikely to get done in time for the window shutting now, so I guess we just need to hope we can keep our key players.

windermereROYAL If it isn`t done by Saturday it will be interesting to see if Couhig and his entourage are in his private box again, if he`s absent it could be ominous.

Why do you keep doing this utterl pointless and bonkers doom mongering?

Take a look over the previous 230 pages, I think you`ll find it`s not just me.
I`m a bloody realist that wants this seemingly never ending saga to come to a positive conclusion, don`t have a dig at me for having concerns.
If that`s perceived as doom mongering then so be it.

Not wanting to white knight Ian here but I think his point is that every time we go a day without any statement, your sphincter seems to start flapping like a rapidly deflating balloon and it's all worst case scenario. Yeah, we've had a year of this shit but we're still here and we're still fighting.

Short of of finding £50m down the back of the sofa, there'd fcuk all any of us can do so why stress over something we have absolutely zero control over? What will be will be and we deal with the fall out.

It may have already been answered but how are we funding the club now? Assuming Dai isn't putting in anymore money my assumption is that the potential owners have been providing funds but if this deal collapses are we back on the cards for non-wage payment and possible administration?

ST sales and the premier league money comes in June/July so generally the club has a bit more cash around....

Azeez money will obviously help too

I guess we'll see though in the autumn if things don't conclude by then....

It did sound like Ruben said that in the interview and that they had identified a player, just had to agree terms and were doing everything they could to get him in for next Saturday.

As if to emphasise the distinction he then added that if the sale of the club went through in time, he was also hopeful of adding one or two other players before the deadline.

So, if we heard and understood correctly, the EFL do deserve some praise for finally adopting a more pragmatic approach to our problems and seeking to help us.

It's about time they did after the years of hell we've suffered thanks to their incompetent mistakes. If it's a loan signing and we're paying little if any of their wages and the EFL know our wage to turnover complies with the league then they're doing their job letting us bring a replacement in.

What incompetent mistakes? We broke the rules we signed up to, we did it consistently and we kept doing it even after we were punished the first time. Year after year, despite warnings, agreed business plans and soft transfer embargoes, we ignored the financial parameters that we signed up to work within.

Everything, all of it, goes back to Dai. It's his years of hell and incompetence we've suffered, so direct your anger at him.

Maybe approving the takeover in the first place despite the Premier League having red flags? maybe by not clamping down on our overspending sooner?

Do you really need it explaining to you for the 150th time????????

It wasn't Dai who caused the Hull deal to collapse.

Everything else happened after he bought the club so unless the EFL have a fcuking crystal ball, how the hell can they predict what he's going to do.

They did clamp down on our spending. They imposed a transfer embargo. We sold the ground, raising £28m, they lifted it and within a week we'd pissed through £16m on players, all of which still came in under the FFP limits. Are you suggesting the EFL micro manage every single transfer deal for all 72 clubs? That's not their job. It's up to the club's to spend responsibly and stay within limits.

You know this but you insist on being willfully ignorant. You really are intellectually tinpot.

That really does tell you all you need to know about the IQ of the average Reading FC Twitter user.

Do they think Couhig is holding things up himself, or has decided it would be a bit of a laugh to delay?

It's just making an annoying situation worse. But then there really is no way to underestimate some football followers.

Patience is not a virtue for tw@tter users let alone the lot on the X.

If it all suddenly goes through after Friday I think we can all be fairly sure where the "hitch" was.

I have no idea what is happening, but the idea that Dai is deliberately waiting until after the window closes out of pettiness seems bonkers to me. All his behaviour so far suggests he genuinely doesn't care or give a shit. I'd be surprised if he even knows what the transfer window is.

Where has it actually said this? A quick google search of "Dai Yongge Hull takeover" says members of the consortium failed the test, but that doesn't mean that Dai or his sister weren't those members of the consortium who failed. What were the names of the supposed people in the consortium who failed? Maybe a deeper search will provide the answer.

Also when the takeover was announced the EFL statement said that they (the EFL) had "insisted upon - and the club/new owners have agreed to - a number of additional reporting requirements including enhanced financial monitoring" to "ensure" that Dai's performance was "consistent with the application we have considered." That would suggest they had doubts about Dai and his sister from the outset.
