First time at a game for ages
Really enjoyed it and thought we played some decent stuff.

Looked vulnerable when they attacked and I kept expecting a goal to be conceded. But two great finishes and, maybe because I've been watching National League North, the crowd seemed really loud. Mainly when appealing for free kicks.

Thought Wing was far and away the most comfortable on the ball. And Kelvin was our best outlet up front.

The red card thing was pretty lame but as others have said what else can we do?

Hound Without knowing how much finances dictated, I do think letting Mola go was the wrong decision. Would have been extremely useful this year covering both Fb slots

He was offered a deal, but decided to go to Bristol Rovers instead. I don't know if that was due to wages or anything else.

It may have been the club would've given a one-year deal to Matty Carson had they known Mola would be leaving, although he's only played 42 minutes for Grimsby this season. There was probably an expectation we'd have been able to sign players too - left-back would've been one of the key positions we would've signed someone.

Was Mola? Admittedly I wasn’t taken a huge amount of notice but he was on the released list, sure this was in advance of Rovers signing him

Maybe there was some other comms that I missed

James Earnshaw said he was offered one: https://x.com/james_e1871/status/1788244277702582556

I imagine it would be the case that his contract talks were concluded prior to the retained list being published or the player refused to open serious talks.

Campbell is looking decent.

Think he was one of the weakest of the team on Sat.

not been massively impressed so far I'm afraid. He was too far away from Craig in possession and no where when out of. There's an enormous hole in midfield between the defence and the front 3 that means we just give possession away with long clearances. That's where Wing should be but he's playing (not effectively) as a sweeper. We need to move Craig into shielding the defence and Wing into a more creative role in MF. But who plays RB? Dean?

I believe Rushesha was played as a Right Back at Swansea? The other option is moving Garcia to Left Back which is his natural position! The only issue being Garcia's age (16) is he up to first team football.

I would say the fact Garcia played 20 minutes against both Birmingham and Wigan, looking fairly comfortable in the process, and 90 minutes against Colchester at LB, and is regularly on the bench probably suggests he is as ready for first team football as several others getting chances.

Maybe less so against big physical sides.

But certainly ready for playing against a team like Burton...
