Green A nice reminder at how old school and reluctant to change the FA are.

Why would they change their name or organisational structure? Afterall the counties will probably change again within the century.

Don't believe some of the sides wanted to change from the B&B. County boundaries to some in the 70s were like country boundaries, didn't see why they should be moved just because some idiot pen pusher in Westminster has decided that Oxfordshire should suddenly take on some of the prettier and historical bits of Berkshire or that parts of Gloucestershire and Somerset would be better off merged with Bristol in some stupid conglomeration called Avon etc.

Yeh many would agree but all I'd say is it's not on the FA to fight that particular battle

No, but equally if the clubs involved wished to remain in the competition then that should be observed by the local FAs, and presumably has been.

Latest proposal from same pen pushers

I've heard some disquiet in Swindon, who see themselves as a progressive economically prosperous town on the M4 corridor well situated for Bristol and London being lumped in with *checks notes* Minehead.

The FA are yet to comment.

Utterly pointless, making much of the country's businesses and councils having to waste countless £££ on rebranding and readdressing etc. Guess someone in Westminster will have a business or two able to coin it in on the back of that if this cr@p goes through. New Wessex indeed

...more or less decided it's too soggy to venture out tonight even for a B&B tie, which I'd not normally bother with anyway over 'proper' league games.

Bearing in kind tonight's alternatives would be Rivermoor for a Woodley CCL-1 match, not checked yet but it's very probably MoreRiver  or Knaphill.

There Is a 3G game in CCL-PS of some attraction: Alton vs Jersey but CBA hits hard when it's this wet.
.....

Aylesbury Vale (Dynamos - the original Vale merged with someone after changing from Haywood United probably to get any Council backing goiing) is an odd venue and now the club are a bit of an outpost in the SSML.

Ground is notoriously 'damp' even in warmer weather and their drainage is coupled with a 'drains' issue - definitely had a fairly prevailing and quite unhealthy aroma when I last went. Hopefully was a temporary problem.

Plonked on the northern extreme of the town - quite limited parking but plenty of street spaces nearby ....and used to have a big upstairs bar.

Last went pre-Vids for an FA Cup replay but is on the extreme limit of my midweek range, unless I'm off the next day.

Wantage game OFF as well along with Winslow postponed as well. i’m playing it safe Beaconsfield’s 3g pitch for Windsor v Berks County.

Royals and Racers Wantage game OFF as well- i’m playing it safe Beaconsfield’s 3g pitch for Windsor v Berks County.

.... that was the one B&B tie I might have considered :D but don't think they do food for non-Rams games anymore - tho the Rebellion is often some compensation for that.

Enjoy: if both sides put out full strength XIs it could well be a decent tussle.

This is for regional mayors, not a re-arrangement of local authorities beneath them.

Why

Why they play one round or why they withdraw.
Comp was 1st played in 1878/9 and when Covid hit the 2020/1 comp was not played.Since then Maidenhead Utd have pulled out in 2021/2, 2022/3 and 2023/4. Sometimes at very short notice. Last season they won 2 matches and pulled out at the QF stage. In season 2022/3 they beat Slough in round 1 before a big crowd and then pulled out before they played Marlow.
They have used various excuses but seem happy to pay the fine and not play thus sticking 2 fingers up to the competition !!

Why would they play 2 games and pull out but not try win it? That's unfair on the teams who they beat

I think the fine is about £75.

Because Maidenhead disrespect the tournament !! I think their efforts to stay in the National league take priority in their thinking. I know the B & B are not happy with the situation but i believe step 6 and below have to enter the County Cup.
It does need mentioning that last season sadly Wycombe also pulled out, but previously have fully supported the competition. Their success in the EFL trophy( BSM) meant they didn’t have enough dates to play all their matches.
