blueroyals I’m surprised everyone is so calm today

It’s a statement confirming cash flow issues the day before pay day during the month we’ve been told money will run out

Hopefully we get confirmation wages have been paid ASAP today

James Earnshaw said last night the tax and wages for this month were fine.

I think the statement is a heads up that players will have to be sold in January.

I’m calm because I’m completely numb to it all, have been for well over a year.

Nothing surprises me, it’s like Groundhog Day over and over.

Carnabyswhiskers This statement is so helpful. It tells us that there is a club for sale, that some people are talking about the buying and selling of it, that in case supporters don't know running a football club costs money and that some unidentified people are currently paying bills on behalf of the club. Rubbing my hands at the prospect of another such statement in a month's time. Perhaps in the form of a Chairman's Xmas Message? In the meantime, how do we get these oxf*rd oxf*rds out of our club?

12 months ago it had me on tenterhooks. Now I'm used to it and live with it. I can't do anything to affect it. Maybe I can set out a 10 year plan to become a billionaire and pay over the odds myself, as it'll still be dragging on then.

This.

I'm just done with the whole process and what will be will be. The team are fun to watch and everything else will happen as it happens.

Something has to come to head soon - which will either be a sale (yeah right) or administration. Whatever happens, its out of my control.

Not even sure there is anypoint in protests anymore - as said, the only bright-spot is the the team and doing anything to disrupt them and risk more points being taken off for "non-owner" issues, is now just counterproductive.

Lucky we’ve got a player or two somebody might actually want to buy.

It's the never-ending psychodrama of it all that is so draining.

Phrases such as "both sides want to conclude the sale as quickly as possible" are essentially meaningless, and indeed, pointless to make.

What will be will be.

I hope he doesn't get asked about it. He's made it abundently clear time and time again he's not involved, doesn't want to be and doesn't know anything.

As Ruben said last year, if I can't control it, then I can't worry about it.

The Athletic reporting that Roger Smee's bid is credible and is not reliant on administration.

Also has significant local backing....

Sounds more credible that he is fronting a consortium. Wonder if the SCL guys might be involved, or would that be a conflict of interest with them being the current shirt/stadium sponsors?

I doubt the EFL have massively tight rules on that and as long as they are only paying fair market value then I don't see it being an issue - they have already bailed the club out on a few occasions. Plus if they were to say only own 15% of the club then they wouldn't need to pass any EFL tests that may flag it as a conflict.

But I don't see how it would be any different than Mike Ashley owning Newcastle and them playing at the Sports Direct stadium.

A local consortium would likely be the dream way out of this shit. A group containing, Smee, SJM, SCL and any other locally successful businessmen would be fantastic - even if just to stabilise the club before a future sale to someone with deeper pockets, who knows what they are doing.

This seems a bit more like a fever dream than a realistic prospect - if only because, should there be enough rich people with genuine connections to the club and with the means to buy and operate it, they would have been involved before.

It could possibly be some USA-based venture capitalists (still rumoured to be the type of people currently in exclusivity) smart enough to work with local minority partners in a consortium. US money and local know-how. That would work.

Doubt Smee AND SJM would be involved.
Smee won’t be paying £30 million to anyone so he’d need money from elsewhere.
He’s definitely interested in getting involved and he’d come in to get the club back on a sensible/sustainable footing rather than promise glory and the PL.
There are loads of extremely wealthy people in the Thames Valley and SJM had no connection to the club before he took over so it wouldn’t necessarily need someone who is a fan.
