It’s probably me (and I stand to be corrected), but there seems to be little media interest in Harboroughs’ David and Goliath FA Cup fixture. Barely a mention in the NL Paper last Sunday, nothing much on the beeb website etc etc.
Plenty of coverage for Brackley, Kettering etc. in both.

Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places…….

That’s to be expected - he hasn’t been with a club since the end of the 2021-22 season.

I don’t think they’ve given him any time in the league with how late he’s turned up.

He signed on 5th November. Somehow they persuaded him to come out of retirement. Probably will only play in their remaining FA Cup games.

There was a football special train to the Blyth Spartans first game in 72 or 73 - we went 2-0 up but had to hold on to 2-2 by the end. Away fans in a temporary stand.
I think there was also one to the Bridgewater tie as well that I think we won 2 or 3-0.

I think there was also one to the Bridgewater tie as well that I think we won 2 or 3-0.

Bloody Blyth Spartans, that was during the miners strikes, it was dark at the end, couldn`t see sod all, would have lost if it had gone on for another 5 minutes.
Ironic that I went all the way up there but couldn`t go to the replay that was played on a Wednesday afternoon which we won 6-1 because my boss wouldn`t let me go.

I remember a replay at Newport (may have been a league club at the time, so not sure if it counts), . the score was 0-0, with neither side looking like scoring. With time running out a message came over the tannoy, "The special train back to Reading will be delayed if extra time is needed". He had hardly stopped speaking when we only goal of the game.

I remember going to Everton for a league cup tie (?) in probably late 60’s/ early 70’s on a football special. The thing i remember most was we went all the way there and back on a ‘ rattler ‘- diesel multiple unit !!!

I remember going to Everton for a league cup tie (?) in probably late 60’s/ early 70’s on a football special. The thing i remember most was we went all the way there and back on a ‘ rattler ‘- diesel multiple unit !!!

I remember going on one to Wolves in either the very late 80s/ early 90s. The players travelled on the same train and walked to the stadium with the fans.

I seem to recall we took a very early lead but ended up losing 3 or 4-1 - Branfoot was in charge at the time and personally came down the train apologising to all the fans for the performance but thanking us all for coming.

Would presume it’s the 1988 game as Whitehurst scored after 3 minutes or so and Wolves hit back after HT through Phil Chard (penalty) and Rob Dennison.

Must have been the 88 one then - remember us scoring early but clearly blanked how many we let in at the other end.

I'll be livid if we mess this up. Imagine the financial help a plumb tie away in a 50k+ stadium which is televised could be. They're 7th tier and we're at home.
