Trivia question
Which team lost twice in the FA cup in 2000?
So, they will have lost an extra time and were founded in 1883. Did Reading enter directly FA cup from forming? I think it may be a down to a couple of years here.
Bonus trivia question
Which team was knocked out of the League Cup twice the same season (1999-2000)?
(i.e. ignore the individual two-legged games, it's not that)
Aston Villa in the League cup wasn't it - can't remember who it was but they lost a game to a side who fielded an ineligible player - won the rematch then lost in a later round.
Yes it was West Ham who beat Villa on penalties and were then ordered to replay the game as they played an ineligible player (of course if that'd been a little club they'd likely have been thrown out of the competition rather than just ordered to replay). Villa won the replay aet then finally got beaten by Leicester in the semis.

And, bizarrely enough, Villa played Darlington in the FA Cup 3rd round.
Yeah, Barnsley got throw out last season:
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67486563I went to this game, which had some of the worst refereeing I've ever seen:
https://www.gresleyrovers.com/first-team/report/7475Other than the obvious one ...
On 45 minutes Potts was through on goal but was clearly held back by Liam Mitchell who gave the referee Mr Simpson no option but to show a straight red card.
I was sat next to the lad reviewing the refereeing and he was insistent it could only be a yellow. I dunno. My memory is the player had turned away from goal and was looking for a pass backwards at the time.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but Dunkirk were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player. Gresley were therefore awarded a walkover.
That's in the very first extra preliminary qualifying round, which raises some questions.
