Royal_jimmy Hull would be a terrible move for Selles. Terrible city and part of the country, a club who could be playing in our league next year, who don't play similarly to us. If Selles was smart he'd say no and hold out. If he'd gone to say Leicester, Southampton or West Brom I'd understand it more.

I think people underestimate the toll of working at the club; not knowing when bad news will break, when the bills will stop being paid, what protests may occur etc., Plus, while Hull itself isn't much to write home about, he can probably buy a massive fcuk off house on the Yorkshire coast within about 30 minutes drive.

Not sure he'd be wise to buy a house up there given they sacked a manager for finishing 7th just a few months ago.

Funny thing is HITC Sevens only just did another of their "what the **** is going on at Hull" videos

Football people's career decision making never fails to amaze me. Particularly managers. They really aren't very clever and chasing the latest shiny bauble thinking it will be different for them.

We need a spy at Bearwood to see if Ruben is taking training today.

My question answered by James Earnshaw

Well it looks like that is that. I'm told Ruben has returned to Bearwood to say his goodbyes but will not be the manager of this club for much longer. Sad day for the football club #readingfc #hcafc

I like to think he`s a decent man but that will change dramatically if he comes back next month and takes some of our crown jewels away.

Tbf, how many managers failed at Reading? It was different for Selles.

It took him a long time to work out what he was doing at Reading, we were awful and he fell out with Andy Carroll, Tom Holmes and a few others.

If it takes him as long at Hull they will be relegated, they will be in League 1, and he will be unemployed, with another failure on his CV to go with his failure at Southampton.

If i was him I'd wait for a club who is looking for a promotion push, not one looking to avoid relegation.

I think they just like more money.

Why do so many young aspiring managers chuck it in to go and manage Chelsea for 18 months before getting sacked?

They know they will be sacked. It can only be for more money. Graham Potter was onto something great at Brighton. He looks very very stupid now.

well quite. But a move to Hull City is not the same as a move to CHelsea with all their riches and potential payoff opportunities.

he would have gone from most clubs - it was only the absolute lack of leadership and decision making at the club at the time that gave him the leeway to turn it around (and the fact that his squad was actually very competitive in L1)

Wonder what the statement will say. Will probably end with the meaningless "Dai is committed to selling the Club".

Used to be fun supporting this club, that went down the plug hole years ago, this is just the latest disappointment in a long ever growing list of disappointments.
And I fear there are more to come, starting next month.

Looks like a terrible move to a nothing club with a basket case of an owner staring relegation in the face, on the face of it.
However, the saddest indictment as someone who has lived through the last 18 months of working at Reading, is he feels that Hull is a big step up from where he is.
WTF does that tell us about how far we have really fallen.
Surely rock bottom cant be much further down, can it?

Also, how much can we get for his flag?

katweslowski Wing wouldn't go

His partner is heavily integrated in the culture (if that exists anymore) and the club. She's really happy and has said before that they both wanted to settle and stay long term.

This whole mass exodus thing is just knee jerk panicking.

Yes, I'm sure this will unnerve players and tip them further towards wanting to leave.

But there are only two (well three) ways they leave.
1) Another club wants them and is willing and able to compensate us for them.
2) Their contract runs out
3) gross misconduct, breach of contraxt etc.

3 simply isn't going to happen.

2 is a future problem

1 isn’t significantly changed for the majority. Bindon and Garcia were already likely to go. Smith, Knibbs, Wing, Mbengue, Yiadom, et all are either not going to attract attention from higher placed teams or not at what they would cost.

Burn it when he comes back as manager of non-league Dagenham and Redbridge in an FA Cup tie against top of the Championship Reading in a few years time.

Not only do Hull now have our most popular manager for years but also managed to avoid the odious toad as their owner.
Assume they get to chose which of our players they would like come the inevitable administration next year.
I do remember, around the early 2000s, the Hull chairman saying that they wanted to copy the Reading model!
