What we'd most like to know, is that we're not just being lied to again. Which I would think is pretty obvious.

Sutekh You just can't please anyone any of the time. We've had a "noisy" exclusivity period which built everyone's hopes up then dashed them all at the last minute. Now there's a dead quiet exclusivity going on where the club have already said funding of the club will be covered until the sale is completed (they even reference that in their statement) and they're starting to get uppity.

Exclusivity is meant to be covered in dead silence, and in selling a club there is not meant to be any confirmation as to the buyers or the proposed deal until the FL sign it all off. So I'd say all is what it is expected to be.

Are they really asking the club to provide a weekly statement that will more or less say the same thing each time? All we know is that a party is in talks currently and there is no reportable news at this moment in time. Something will happen one way or another at some point, they aren't just going to forget about it and walk away without saying anything.

Yes we'd all like to know timescales and exactly what's going on but we've had that before and it's not been a good outcome so just let it go. The Chinese want to sell and some group out there seems to want to buy. Whatever happens the period of exclusivity will likely continue to be filled by wild speculation and comedy rumours anyway.

I'm sorry but I can tell you that exclusivity is not necessarily meant to be covered in dead silence.

In my experience, assuming both are decent organisations/individuals, both buyer and seller will usually want to engage with stakeholders and keep them informed as far as is reasonable and practicable within the normal constraints of commercial confidentiality. If you're a buyer of any entity involving people, you recognise that the people are usually a key part of the value of that entity and so want to try to get/keep them onside.

And for those who are inclined to believe all that comes out of the mouths of the senior people at the club, particularly regarding money/funding, I have some considerable wealth that I need help in getting out of a foreign country. Just provide me with your bank account details and you can have 10% of it!

OK maybe not dead silence but it should be reasonably quiet with not much being heard and certainly not the public “madness” we got with the Couhig attempt. As regards the senior people at the club (if there are any left) I’d like to think they are telling the truth in this instance otherwise there’s no point in supporting what’s left of the club as it’s likely it’ll all sink without trace in the new year.

Also is Selles really the only person at the club who people can ask about what’s going on? It seems it’s always him that gets dumped on when he really has other things to keep him occupied.

Point very well made Sutekh. What that bloke is having to take on his shoulders is unreal. And how he's managed to get us to where we are in the league is also unreal. Then again, a fractured dam can only keep the water back for so long.

Snowflake Royal What we'd most like to know, is that we're not just being lied to again. Which I would think is pretty obvious.

The deal may not come to fruition for any number of reasons. Silence would seem the most appropriate course of action. Until there's something concrete to say. In the meantime the club will most likely cut it's budgets to the bare minimum to survive financially.

If you believe there is a real offer on the table.

This would be the only time confidentiality has actually been followed and the announcement was very suspiciously timed.

As you don't believe what the club say what good will it do (to you) for them to say something?

Exactly this, when the last ‘deal’ fell through in the same breath, don’t worry someone else in stepping in to buy the club and a new period of exclusivity. Followed by silence.

I mean, it did work a treat last time. Don't think doing it again will help in anyway though.

Just find it a bit “lucky” that Mr Couhig’s bid “failed” and the club immediately went into exclusivity with another bidder…..

SBWD has shown the limits of people power. I'm not sure what more they could have done. National press coverage, political engagement. It's had missteps, but it's been a good campaign.

The lesson of SBWD is that if some powerful cnut with resources gets their claws on something that matters to people and communities, there are no protections against them royally fcuking up everything. Quite depressing really.

What's the point of further protests having learned this? We lost.

It still only got attention because there no (few?) premier league games that day.

Unless something is done on a weekend that's a similar 'slow news day' it'll barely get a mention, and the brutal truth is that it hasn't made a shred of difference.

Wouldn't expect anything to happen unless the (insert word of your choice) turns down the next bid to buy the club, then I think all hell might break loose and Reading will be relegated through points deductions from all angles.

It got live FA Cup attention with pundits discussing it. I'm not suggesting it made a blind bit of difference but posters belittling people's protests for trying something isn't really on. Bit too "English" for my liking.

I think there's a difference between something which delays a game for a few minutes, and twenty people going on and getting a game called off, annoying the players, and the other fans - especially if they've made an expensive trip down from somewhere like Blackpool.

A second game called off wouldn't also get less coverage than last time, and risk losing sympathy from the media and other fans, just so a small number of people can think they are a group of heroes.

I really think all we can do is stop financing the club. Only when the money runs out will Dai's hand be forced, as he won't want to pay wages out of his own pocket.

Isn't he already some £200M out of pocket?

I agree with the premise though - hard to part with your cash to prop up the current shitshow.
