The third and final England U15 training camp took place a few weeks ago. I haven't seen the full squad but Reading had at least one call-up - Samson Omeregie, who appears to be a centre-back.

So in the three camps there were 78 players and at least three play for Reading.

Every chance he’s the brother of U 18/21 Royal Larry Omeregie.

Yes, I thought that too (although to be honest, my first thought was that they might be the same person). Anyway Larry is a forward so probably two different players.

In the absence of any local journalists or club info, what we really need is some sort of sibling similarity naming convention (as practised by Mr and Mrs Osho). Also, it's quite clear that we need these couples to be more fertile.

Always find the section on matches on this date in previous years interesting, and just seen Michael Stickland was on the bench in our 2-2 draw V Derby 3 years ago.

Despite being captain of the U21's, his progression seems to have stalled, be interesting to see how those who see the U21's rate him against Holzman & Kanu who both could maybe do with a bit more time in the U21's.

Yeah, John Clarke featured for us in the Championship too, yet has been nowhere since. I know he had at least one bad injury, wonder if its the same with Stickland.

From the handful of Academy games I've watched this season I'd describe Stickland as a no nonsense defender rather than one of the more cultured players. I don't think he plays any position other than CB. He often picks up a yellow card but also has a knack of scoring goals (especially when we play in Aldershot, his home town) which our other defenders don't tend to do.

He is most definitely the captain of the side and is important to the team in that respect (probably as he is one of the oldest and most experienced), though not sure this is a good enough reason to hold him back to play for the Unders rather than the first team. Noel will know him well and would be best placed to decided if/when he makes the step up.

Further to the Michael Stickland info above - both he and Charlie Wellens (plus a keeper, possibly Norcott?) travelled to the Valley on Saturday as they were warming up pre-match. Stickland was also at Lincoln a few weeks earlier, so he's only an injury to a defender in the warm-up from making the bench I'd guess.
