Hound I think Dai will sell at some point, either forced or he’ll just get bored enough to do it

God knows why he hasn’t already sold. We just need to survive long enough for it to happen

Think you’ve had a bit too much festive cheer!

I think Dai will be forced to sell at some point.

I do wonder if the rumours about his debts, Chinese banks etc. are true, and it's another party that needs to learn that c. £30m is as good as it gets.

Or if Dai is still pulling the strings and deluding himself he can get more.

Whoever is in charge must surely learn at some point. This summer, he had a chance to sell a squad and manager to build promotion upon. That ship has sailed now, we'll probably lose at least Bindon in January alongside Selles. So presumably squeezing more out of buyers just became a whole lot harder.

Excellent letter by SBWD posted though Pang's letter box the other day (where it was immediately picked up by someone).

I cannot access my Twitter feed where I am but if anyone can, please post on here.

It's a good letter but guarantee it went straight in the bin. Should've set fire to a bag of dog shit on his porch instead.

153 year old club.

Apart from that, a good letter.

Probably 152 year still as letter was posted before Christmas. Is the generally accepted date of formation still 25-12-1871?

Basically no one has a clue as to when the club was definitively formed, only that it was definitely in existence by February 1872. The club’s foundation was first written down as 1871 in the FA yearbook of 1872 but even that is not conclusive and a lot of clubs said they were founded earlier than they actually were around then (e.g. Maidenhead said they started in 1869 until it was conclusively proved to be 1870). Reading also celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1920 which would actually put its foundation in 1870.

All that can be said is that the club was definitely founded at some point between November 1871 and February 1872 and that 1871 has generally always been quoted by the club.

Lastly, Reading’s first ever match was a 0-0 draw v Reading School on 21 February 1872 so it’s very unlikely the club would have been formed without playing a game for any longer than a few weeks or 2/3 months.

Update now on the O/S. Doesn't say much, but I don't suppose they can.

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2024/d ... er-update/
Following the last update on the 28th November, The Club can provide further information regarding the ongoing takeover process.

Negotiations with the prospective buyer remain ongoing, with the short-term funding of the club taking priority at this present time. Whilst the club understands our supporters' desire for the identity of the purchaser to be confirmed, at this stage confidentiality must remain in place for the benefit of all parties.

In the most recent update, the process of completing the sale had been described as ‘complicated and lengthy’. Since this point, one external factor which had caused delay has subsequently been resolved, with the ‘Stop Notice’ charge in place against the Select Car Leasing Stadium now removed. There is also an ongoing litigation proceeding from an outside party against Mr Dai. This matter is now in the hands of Mr Dai’s lawyers, and the club will make no further comment.

As we reach the final stages of 2024, the club would like to put on record its thanks to a series of key stakeholders.

To our Club Partners and Suppliers, thank you for consistently going above and beyond when working alongside the club.

To our players, thank you for your relentless efforts towards putting the club in a position where we end 2024 in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off positions. The togetherness and resilience shown throughout the year is a testament to you all and we are proud of the progression and passion we see on the pitch each week. This is replicated through the academy whereby 2024 has also seen success both on the pitch, and players progressing through to the first team.

To the staff across the whole club, thank you for the countless hours and hard work dedicated towards ensuring the club can operates to its maximum ability both on matchdays and during the working week.

To the fans, thank you for standing by your club during a difficult year. Your support at both the Select Car Leasing Stadium and across the country has been unwavering despite the obstacles faced. The ongoing commitment to the club is evident each week – and as we finish the calendar year with one of the strongest home records in the division, the part played by our supporters should not be underestimated.

Only interesting points to note are:

a) short term funding a priority - i.e. as expected player sales
b) Stop Notice resolved

So, in one month they have handed Couhig’s case to Dai’s lawyers AND sorted a stop notice on the stadium? Busy busy!

Doubt the club sorted any of it directly though, their involvement would probably have been no more than passing the relevant documents onto to whichever lawyers for them to sort out.

Looking forward to Bindon and Garcia going on decent deals in the next week - well you have to otherwise there’d be no point….

Which are both matters entirely outside the club's own control. The ongoing litigation isn't going to make the process any speedier. All the football club can do is to continue to focus on trading solvently by any means at it's disposal. Insolvency can only result in administration and points deductions.
