Hungerford 3 Chertsey 0. Since the new year Hungerfords form has been very impressive moving from the bottom 4 to the top half of the table. They now play a back 3 and look a lot more solid and have kept 3 successive clean sheets. Last nights win was a lot tighter than the score line suggests with 2 goals at the death. The second by recent signing (ex Liverpool and Bournemouth) Jordan Ibe who appears to have played about 10 games in the past 4 years.

Would have come over next Tuesday for the MK Dons game but the fixture clash sees me at the SCL stadium instead.

Sheerwater v Fleet Town
Spelthorne Sports v Camberley Town
- nipped down to Krooner for Cambo’s Tue nights league clash with 3rd placed ‘Bulls’ – dull stifling affair – hosts packed the midfield and grappled their estemeed visitors into a stalemate.
- in a match very low on chances, Jersey grateful for the three points gained, with a low drive through a crowd of players just before the break
- no changes (yet) at the ramshackle old place but they do have some fairly ambitious plans for a re-furb here which has been a long time coming.

Frome Town 3-3 Marlow – battling point for ‘Blues’ at relegation ‘rivals’ but they’ll need wins to have a chance of escaping the drop
- are 11 pts from safety and have played more than those immediately above them

Hungerford Town 2-0 Hanwell Town
Merthyr Town 5-1 Bracknell Town – ‘Robins’ three down at the break, pulled one back thru Roberts.
- game done by the hour mark, as the leaders ‘Martyrs’ scored twice more

CCL-PN
Amersham Town 6-2 Risborough Rangers
Ardley United 1-2 North Greenford United
Bedfont Sports 6-0 Wokingham Town
Edgware & Kingsbury 2-0 British Airways – E&K off the bottom with a run of 10 pts from the last possible 18
- ‘Sumas’ are sinking fast and Berks Co sat just ‘above the line’ have only 1 win in 6, albeit a 7-3 thumping of bottom placed Wembley - but have played more games
- Reading City and Risborough are also rather surprisingly in some peril – only ahead of the ‘Swords’ on GD

Holyport 0-2 Broadfields United
Virginia Water 3-2 Harefield United
Wallingford & Crowmarsh 0-1 Egham Town
CCL-PS
Abbey Rangers 1-1 Tooting & Mitcham United

Balham 3-1 Chipstead
Horley Town 1-6 Tadley Calleva
Knaphill
1-3 Jersey Bulls
Sheerwater 3-1 Fleet Town
Spelthorne Sports 1-1 Camberley Town
- still plenty of games left for some but the likely PO spots all but wrapped up here.
- a big (11pt) gap has opened up from 5th placed Fleet to ‘Knappers’ back in 6th
- Tadley could in theory make up the ground as they are a point further back but have 6 games in hand on 4th placed Cobham who only have 5 games remaining.
- another sizeable (9pt) gap up to the top three – leaders Whyteleafe (still in the Vase) – Redhill in 2nd and Bulls sit 3rd

CCL-1
Penn & Tylers Green 5-1 Hillingdon Borough
PFC Victoria London 3-1 Eversley & California – difficult to keep up here but PFC ‘borrowed’ the Middlesex Stadium (Hillingdon) for this one
- defeat sees E&C drop out of the PO slots

Spartans Youth 0-1 Chalfont St Peter
Windsor & Eton
2-1 Bedfont - att 268
- and huuuge news for those that frequent Stag Meadow – lifted from an NLM report:
"-No real changes at the ground apart from the toilets under the main stand have been totally spruced up"
:o

Yateley United 5-1 Holmer Green

HELL-P
Highworth Town 1-1 Fairford Town – att 158
Cirencester Town 1-2 Royal Wootton Bassett Town – att 156

HELL-1
Abingdon United 2-4 Stonehouse Town – U’s beaten by close PO rivals – stay 3rd behind ‘Freds’ and leaders Droitwich
Bewdley Town 4-0 Kidlington Res
Carterton FC 2-3 Redditch Borough
Wantage Town 2-0 Newent Town
- sadly Southam’s demise now official – all remaining fixtures Voided and they have been removed from the Table

WESS-1
AFC Aldermaston 2-0 Lymington Town
Cove 2-2 Ringwood Town
Folland Sports 2-1 Ash United – Ash beaten in ‘6 pointer’ but stay just clear of ‘drop zone’ as Whitchurch didn’t play
Frimley Green {SEVEN} 7-2 Fawley AFC – att 153

Scrappy 1 - 0 win for Brackley. Still very much in the promotion hunt

Ironically, the team is playing worse since they've had a full squad available. Should have gone with the Steve Coppell approach and not changed a winning team.

Thatcham’s home game against Bideford last night had to be called off 45 mins before kick-off as one of the 8 floodlight masts caught fire. The fire service arrived swiftly and put the fire out.

...noticed that game was a v.late call-off - visitors had just arrived apparently. :(
Were a couple of fairly indistinct videos of the scene posted on SM last night.
Got an idea this is not the first PP for this fixture either? :?
- someone on TwiX remarked it seemed particularly cursed and recommended they could consider playing the reverse fixture, due 8/3, as a double-header, just to get it out if the way.
Lots of other games off quite late yesterday too round here but for more conventional issues.

Royals and Racers Last night was the 3rd attempt to play the fixture.

.... assume (hope) this was the first occasion of the 3, that Bideford had actually reached Waterside Pk?

In other news: (since I'm here) :D
- 'Magpies' lose 1-3 @ York Rd ..... v York
- thumping win for Brackley v Rushall 6-1 - six different goalscorers if you believe the Beeb?
- Oxford City held leaders Chester 0-0
- Sluff beaten 1-2 at Arbour by Chipp'num: away wins for Chesham & Farnboro in the same division.

Not a lot else survived below STEP02 - will round-up later.

Oxford City v Woking
Sutton United v Spennymoor Town

12:30 Sittingbourne v Aldershot Town - sold-out : capacity was 'capped' at 1,300 & Sh!ts were only allocated 195 tickets - plenty of 'live-streaming' options apparently?

Enfield v Kidlington
Flackwell Heath
v Biggleswade
Kings Langley v Barton Rovers
North Leigh v Ware
Thame United v Hadley
SL1-S
Didcot Town v Willand Rovers - 'Diddy' beaten at the Loop on Tue by PO chasing Bps Cleeve - winner on 94'
Thatcham Town v Melksham Town

IL1-SC
Fri 28th Feb 20:00 Ashford Town (Middx) v Rayners Lane
Binfield v Raynes Park Vale
14:00 Guernsey v Metropolitan Police
Hanworth Villa v Sutton Common Rovers
Hartley Wintney v Hayes & Yeading United
Horndean v Farnham Town
Kingstonian v Westfield
Leatherhead v Ascot United – ‘Yellamen’ in 3rd, win 3-2 at Westfield to draw level with 2nd placed Kingstonian
– have played 4 games more though
- Uxbridge and Hartley make up the PO spots

Moneyfields v Harrow Borough
Southall v Badshot Lea
Uxbridge v South Park (Reigate)

CCL-PN
Berks County v Bedfont Sports - @ Ascot Utd
British Airways v Amersham Town - @ Spelthorne Sports
Broadfields United v Wokingham Town
Harefield United v Burnham - 'Blues' with a big (4-1) win at Berks Co on Tue night
Milton United v Egham Town - @ Wallingford
Reading City v Ardley United - 'Cityzens' lost 1-2 at Hilltop on Wed night
Risborough Rangers v Wembley
Virginia Water v Edgware & Kingsbury
- Holyport well in the PO mix again this term, won 4-2 at BA (Spelthorne) on Tue
- they have played a couple of games more than their close rivals and only have 5 left to fit in.
- there is the usual startling disparity of games left in this league, centred around groundsharers:
- Hilltop, 'lodging' on 3G at Beaconsfield, have only 4 league games remaining – Berks Co at Ascot have 5
- at the other extreme, Milton sharing a far soggier, 'natural' surface up at Hithercroft (Wallingford) still have FOURTEEN to play!

CCL-PS
Alton v Tooting & Mitcham United
Camberley Town v Balham
Chipstead v Fleet Town
13:30 Guildford City v Jersey Bulls
Knaphill v Epsom & Ewell
Redhill v Horley Town
Tadley Calleva v Abbey Rangers
CCL-1
Bedfont v Colliers Wood United
Chalfont St Peter v London Samurai Rovers
Eversley & California v Penn & Tylers Green
FC Deportivo Galicia v Spartans Youth - @ Bedfont Sports
Hillingdon Borough v Woodley United
Holmer Green
v Langley
Molesey v Windsor & Eton - W&E win big at Stag Meadow on Tue and are now 9 pts clear of P&TG at the top
Oxhey Jets v Brook House
Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) v PFC Victoria London - @ Abbey Rangers
Westside v Windsor - @ CWU - Windsor pegged back late on Tue by PO chasing Hillingdon - 94' equalizer
Yateley United v Rising Ballers Kensington
- The usual Fixture congestion likely for a few in this Division here too: -
- Langley & Windsor on 'plastic' at Uxbridge and Beaconsfield, have only about half-a-doz. or so league fixtures to complete.
- by contrast London Samurai, lodging at Hanworth, have FIFTEEN left, as do RB Kensington who are 'stuck' on the notoriously boggy North Greenford's Berkeley Fields.

HELL-1
14:00 Kidlington Res v Cheltenham Saracens
Abingdon United v FC Stratford
Newent Town v Carterton FC
Redditch Borough v Wantage Town

SCE-1
SC Thamesmead v Forest Hill Park – FHP/SED go top in midweek with a 3-0 win over Welling Town

WESS-1
Amesbury Town v Frimley Green
Ash United
v Fleetlands
Cove v East Cowes Victoria
New Milton Town v AFC Aldermaston
Romsey Town v Alresford Town
Whitchurch United
v Folland Sports

NL Results

Sat Mar 1st

FA Trophy Quarter Finals
Oxford City 2-2 Woking -Cards win 2-1 on pens having levelled on 91’
seven consecutive spot-kicks missed in the shoot out apparently!
- visiting Keeper Jaaskelainen with the decisive one

Sutton United 0-2 Spennymoor Town
Sittingbourne 0-3 Aldershot Town
Rochdale 2-0 Altrincham

Initial S-F Odds :
Rochdale (6/4)
‘Sh!ts’’ 2/1
Woking 5/2
and STEP02 Spennymoor 8/1

FA Vase Quarter Finals
Whitstable Town 3-2 Whitchurch Alport – att 2,656
Hartpury University 2-1 Erith & Belvedere – att 256
Andover New Street 1-0 Heanor Town – att 953 – ANS reach their first Vase S-F
– great achievement for a side that were regularly the whipping boys down at STEP06
- in the 10 seasons up to 2017, they only finished out of the bottom 3 once, shipped over 100 goals on 6 occasions.
- surprisingly promoted for 17/18 they finished rock bottom after another disastrous campaign but recovered post-VIDS to get back up to the WESSEX Premier at the 2nd attempt
- this season are flourishing – just outside a PO spot with games in hand.
- very probably beneficiaries of the sorry demise of Andover Town who, a bit like Newbury, have gone under at least twice and reformed
- they still occupy the Portway Stadium nearby to New Street but currently scrabble around in the Hants Senior Premier League (STEP07)

A.F.C. Whyteleafe 1-0 Bourne Town – att 1,540
– another ‘from the ashes’ success here: the original Whyteleafe were forced out of their Church Rd ground by new owners and folded in 2021 (allegedly was the same property developers that recently caused Abingdon Town to ‘close down’)
- re-formed and climbed up from the County Leagues and moved up & across from the Southern Counties East Div One last season
- so an ALL Southern S-F line-up.
8)

Initial S-F Odds :
AFC Whyteleafe (6/4)
Hartpury ‘stundents’ 2/1
Whistable 4/1
and ANS 5/1

League
NAT
Braintree Town 1-0 Eastleigh
Forest Green Rovers 2-0 Maidenhead United
NAT-N
Darlington 2-4 Brackley Town – ‘Saints’ fought back from two down after ½ hr – climb level with leaders Chester – sit 2nd on GD with a game in hand
NAT-S
Chesham United 1-4 Truro City
Enfield Town 0-2 Dorking Wanderers
Farnborough
2-1 Weston-super-Mare
Welling United 2-2 Slough Town - ‘Rebels’ came back after being 2 behind at H/T

SLP-C
Banbury United 2-2 v Harborough Town
Barwell 4-1 Bishop's Stortford
Bromsgrove Sporting 3-0 AFC Sudbury
Leiston 0-2 Kettering Town
St Ives Town 2-2 AFC Telford United
Stamford 2-2 Lowestoft Town
SLP-S
AFC Totton 1-1 Merthyr Town – att 2,079 – Scott Rendell with a late leveller for the ‘Stags’
Bracknell Town 1-3 Plymouth Parkway
Gloucester City 1-2 Walton & Hersham – brace for Rogalski
Gosport Borough 0-2 Chertsey Town – important win for struggling ‘Curfews’
Hanwell Town 3-3 Poole Town
Havant & Waterlooville 0-1 Winchester City – much needed maximum for ‘Winch’ to keep them (just) clear of drop zone – Mlambo on 80’
Marlow 0-2 Swindon Supermarine
Sholing 4-0 Hungerford Town
Tiverton Town 0-5 Basingstoke Town – 2 each for Liam F and Ben Cook – ‘stoke 4 up by H/T
SL1-C
Beaconsfield Town 3-0 Aylesbury United
Enfield {SEVEN} 7-0 Kidlington
Flackwell Heath
3-0 Biggleswade
Kings Langley 0-1 Barton Rovers
North Leigh 0-0 Ware
Thame United 4-4 Hadley
SL1-S
Didcot Town A-A Willand Rovers -Abandoned medical emergency in the crowd
Thatcham Town 1-1 Melksham Town

https://southern-football-league.co.uk/uploads/documents/originals/Edition%2029.pdf

IL1-SC
Fri - Ashford Town (Middx) 2-4 Rayners Lane
Binfield 2-1 Raynes Park Vale
Guernsey 2-0 Metropolitan Police
Hanworth Villa 1-0 Sutton Common Rovers
Hartley Wintney 0-1 Hayes & Yeading United
Horndean 0-0 Farnham Town
Kingstonian 1-5 Westfield – shock set-back for 2nd placed ‘K’s
Leatherhead 3-0 Ascot United
Moneyfields 3-2 Harrow Borough
Southall 1-0 Badshot Lea – ‘Baggy Lea’ beaten by 95’ winner
Uxbridge 2-1 South Park (Reigate)

CCL-PN
Berks County 1-0 Bedfont Sports - vital win for ‘Swords’ over PO chasing Sports
British Airways 2-3 Amersham Town - leaders ‘Magpies’ stunned by 2 BA goals inside 5’ but were ahead by the 70’ mark
Broadfields United 2-2 Wokingham Town
Harefield United 2-1 Burnham
Milton United 0-3 Egham Town
– was at this - only 55 in attendance at Hithercroft for the ‘lodgers’
– was a far bigger crowd (understandably) for the ‘Rugger B&ggers’ (Wallingford at home to Bicester)
– lots of fancy blazers and sparkling plonk about too – higher class of followers obv. (Though they ran out of Loose Cannon by H/T)
- managed to creep in and get a parking space right out the back by the other Rugby pitches
- the ‘footer’ next door was a scrappy niggly gripe-ridden swearfest – felt sorry for the officials who struggled to control the game and were rather unfairly berated throughout by both sets of players benches and fans – a few Reds dished out at the end.
- ‘Sarnies’ led after about 12 secs (!) & stay 2nd – is between them and Amersham for the title methinks

Reading City 3-1 Ardley United - att 132
Risborough Rangers 0-2 Wembley
Virginia Water 1-3 Edgware & Kingsbury – poor result for VW whose PO chances look to be fading away after this
– down at the foot E&K’s 3rd successive win drives them closer to safety and in range of a cluster of clubs, some of whose form is dropping them back into peril.
- rather worrying that this includes Berks Co (who’ve played more than those around them) Wokkers, Reading City and at a pinch even Wallingford.
- bottom club Wembley’s win at RR certainly puts the latter well into the danger zone.

CCL-PS
Alton 3-0 Tooting & Mitcham United
Camberley Town 2-0 Balham
Chipstead 0-2 Fleet Town
Guildford City 0-2 Jersey Bulls
Knaphill 2-1 Epsom & Ewell
Redhill 2-1 Horley Town
Tadley Calleva 2-0 Abbey Rangers
CCL-1
Bedfont 1-1 Colliers Wood United
Chalfont St Peter 1-0 London Samurai Rovers
Eversley & California 1-1 Penn & Tylers Green
FC Deportivo Galicia 1-0 Spartans Youth - @ Bedfont Sports
Hillingdon Borough P-P Woodley United - pitch deemed unplayable
Holmer Green 1-1 Langley – visitors save a point with a stoppage time pen.
Molesey 1-4 Windsor & Eton - W&E now 11 pts clear at the top
Oxhey Jets 4-4 Brook House
Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) 1-1 PFC Victoria London
Westside 3-1 Windsor
Yateley United 3-4 Rising Ballers Kensington

HELL-1
Abingdon United 2-2 FC Stratford
Kidlington Res 1-1 Cheltenham Saracens
Newent Town 2-1 Carterton FC - poor result for Carteton against relegation rivals
– with the demise of Southam last month, this result drops them into last place, 6 points adrift with less games to play than those around them.

Redditch Borough 1-2 Wantage Town – good win keeps ‘Freds’ clear in 2nd but they only have 4 league games remaining.
- Wantage will (almost certainly) not catch leaders, Droitwich Spa who are 6 pts ahead & have 3 games in hand.
- as covered previously, this league’s odd ‘footprint’ stretching up NW and across into W/Mids and Herefords/Shrops, will most likely mean ‘Spa’ won’t move up directly to the Hellenic Premier but return to the Midlands leagues @ STEP05.
- The other PO spots (Ground Grading notwithstanding) look to include Ab.Utd (4th) and yesterday's visitors FC Stratford (3rd). Both of their grounds should be fine for STEP05 (FC share at Stratford Town[STEP03])
- In touching distance of Stonehouse (nr Stroud) in 5th, are Oxon Club Clanfield 85, Shortwood and another 'Midland Refugee' Redditch Borough.
- The latter, suffer serious pitch/drainage issues so have 11 games remaining
– based on my own visits, I’d very much doubt any of the other three , are up to standard unless some refurb has occurred.

SCE-1
SC Thamesmead 1-2 Forest Hill Park – FHP/SED 90’ winner - open up a 5 point lead with games in hand

WESS-1
Amesbury Town 2-2 Frimley Green
Ash United
5-0 Fleetlands
Cove 0-2 East Cowes Victoria
New Milton Town 4-2 AFC Aldermaston
Romsey Town 1-2 Alresford Town
Whitchurch United
2-2 Folland Sports
