Gregster I wouldn't dignify 107 with an email

I get the impression they use a PC Jukebox for much of the time - it simply shuffles music interspaced with ads and news syndicated from elsewhere. Likely to be an automated email reply.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM BBCRB:

"The club asked for a huge increase in their rights fee, over three
times what we paid last season. We've offered a substantial increase,
in
line with similar clubs in the league, but are not prepared to meet
the
club's financial demands. Obviously we're disappointed but BBC Radio
Berkshire has enjoyed a great relationship with the club over many
years
and we'll continue to report the club's progress next year across
radio,
TV and online. We're all looking forward to what promises to be a
really
exciting season!"

3x increase? w@nkers.

It's crap that you can't cover the games as its obvious to any RFC fan whose coverage has been better over the past few years

at least we have Match of The Day and lots of Sky Sports to look forward to

My family have enjoyed listening to you and Tim and i'm sure this is not the end! I'll listen to the phone ins whilst being stuck in the car park for 2 hours after the Prem games!!

Bit pessimistic I know, but if 107fm are to be a permanent fixture, and we get relegated this season, we will have to put up with poor coverage from TV and radio.

I admit, I shouldn't really be thinking that way, but ...

what is 70k anyway? two weeks wages.... this seems to be another short term fix that'll only damage the club in the long term

Really sad. i really think that bbc radio berks helped make a community-like feel for the fans, and this hasnt always been easy for a team like reading that are so close to london etc. it wont make a huge difference to me for match coverage, because i will be based in sheffield, with an away season ticket, and if im in reading ill be at the games. it just seems a shame that we have been let down like this, to not get the option. I am so excited about the new season but there are factors about RFC that are really starting to irritate me, like the new kits every season (is that even allowed?), bbc radio berks, the difference in our season ticket prices to the other promoted clubs. Lets hope the extra money is used well and we stay up comfortably.

Oh dear, now if this is the Premiership reality and sign of things to come... then thats rather bad form.

Tim and Joel why not quit the BBC and join Reading 107 (only downside being we would have to endure adverts I suppose..)

Or we petition the Head of Radio Berkshire to raise the dosh. I guess the station could shelve other (more expensive) assets to raise the fee required. 25,000 Reading fans in Berkshire who listen. Lets say among them there are probably 10,000 BBC television license fee payers, thats worth something like £1.2m to the Beeb as a coporation. Surely £70k on behalf of those people is a justified use of license fee payers money. Doubt it would stack up with Radio Berkshires budget though.

Shame, I will miss the varied mix of chessy 80s music.. and off course the playground arguments between them. Good luck Tim and Joel, we will continue to support you as best we can.

As it has been said many time before in this forum, yourself and Tim will be greatly missed when I am waiting in traffic. It was you that i was listening to you when we won promotion at Leicester, your pure happiness and joy brung a tear to my eye. You coverage has been truely outstanding and I hope that the club will lower rights price's next season so I can hear all the away games I cannot attend via BBCRB. Thanks again.

That Friday Feeling Perhaps we should start chanting the BBC Radio Berkshire jingles during the matches.

Everytime anyone sees the 107 amateurs trying to conduct a live interview they should bawl out 'Bring back Radio Berks'.

Likewise if asked 'what did you think of the game?':

'I think the coverage would have been a lot better on Radio Berks'

Then, of course, if they try to do a phone in - a quick change of subject matter just as you go live on air!

If you want to be more subtle just keep calling the interviewer Tim or Joel!!
