Yep!

How long till there's a rebrand:

'Madejski FM'

There you are, I've done it now. It's not the Chairman's idea and it has got a nice ring to it!

Skin OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM BBCRB:

"The club asked for a huge increase in their rights fee, over three
times what we paid last season. We've offered a substantial increase,
in
line with similar clubs in the league, but are not prepared to meet
the
club's financial demands. Obviously we're disappointed but BBC Radio
Berkshire has enjoyed a great relationship with the club over many
years
and we'll continue to report the club's progress next year across
radio,
TV and online. We're all looking forward to what promises to be a
really
exciting season!"

3x increase? w@nkers.

Where the hell would 107 get that much money from?

they will charge advertisers a fortune for commercial slots on their sports program

They can try for a fortune - but any advertiser will want to know what the potential reach is. And then laugh in their faces.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but can anyone remember the game vs Wycombe a few years ago now when I'm sure BBCRB managed to get the KO delayed due to horrendous traffic congestion (midweek game)

Constant updates on the traffic issues and what was happening with regard to getting the KO put back to ensure those of us held up near the M40 got to see the game!

Sums it all up really.....

That's because Berks FM is a genuine community radio/service, unlike 107 that's only there for the profit.

A loan from owner John Madejski perhaps, thereby allowing them to pay Reading FC owned by John Madejski?

He wasn't having a go, just stating the fact that there was a choice last year.

Also its "douchebag".

Probably loaned at 65.8% APR with a repayment programme of 1 day with severe penalties thereafter. Oh yeah, and a 'signing fee'.

Nope, much better than that. It'll be paid as radio advertising, which appears in the books as being worth so much money, but actually costs 107 a great big zilch.

I actually think its shocking that the club are being so tight fisted as to stop fans in places such as Thatcham, Newbury, Basingstoke etc to listen to commentary. Reading 107 is a sad excuse for a radio station and I shalln't listen to the commentary at all. JM... wake up and smell the coffee... this is WRONG.

As a season ticket holder who has supported reading for over 20 years I'm starting to get bloody fed up with Mr Mad's whining and now his complete STUPIDITY as to sanction such a move.

We should be happily looking forward to the start of the season but the club seem hell bent on screwing the fans time and time again (new strip, over-priced sub standard dvd, higher season tickets and now this).

If there was a petition launched to try and get the club to stop being so completely short sighted I'd sign it now. We should be trying to capture a bigger audience.. not alienate their existing fans time and time again.

Yeah keep signing guys, then when we get to a decent number, and the signings are slowing a bit, I will sent it to the club.

BBC Berkshire were brilliant, loved their commentary and like to say thanks! 107fm is sh*t and i will not listen to it, the club puts money before anything including quality, they're total cúnts sometimes. BRING BACK BBC BERKSHIRE!

Now, you see, there's this thing called the internet. You can listen to this particular radio station on it.

Seriously people, of all the things to get peeved about this is so far down the list it doesn't even register.

If you want to here the commentary you can, yes Joel was good and if he's that good he'll move to 107, who seem to be making moves in his direction surmising from what I've read.

You will hear the games if you want to. Move on.

The interviews at the end of the Leicester match were some of the best live radio I've ever experienced. I had the opportunity to shake Joel's hand and tell how much I enjoyed those moments on the following Monday at Reading station.

It is hard to believe the club has taken such a short term view and under valued the beneifts they receive (beyond direct cash payments) from BBC Berks.

Personally, I make a habit of cycling during the afternoon away matches and listening to the BBC Berks commentary with a portable radio. I've now lost that option, since I live in east Berks.

I have great respect for the brick by brick approach the club has taken, but BBC Berks is a keystone in the RFC wall, and it should not be pulled out!
