If Warnock, or even Sidwell, had made those comments, I'm not sure whether the reaction would have been the same. The comments may be completely justified, but I'm not sure whether Kitson is a) has the right to make them or b) helps himself or the club by doing so.
On a), at the moment is not nearly the player Lampard is. If Malcolm Shotton criticized Coppell's management, we'd feel similarly. Kitson might feel that Tony Blair's economic policies are wrong, but I wouldn't applaud him for "speaking his mind" if he spoke out, even if he said what many others believe.
On b), fans who do the same at other clubs are often hated (e.g. Robbie Savage). Kitson already has a huge challenge of being as devastating in the Prem as he was in the CCC, and should focus on that. I'm sure Kitson will be singled out at Chelsea (and maybe other grounds). This may affect his performance, since he's often complained about booing by Reading fans, and taunts from opposition fans about his hair.
