Royalee People around me booed him, but I don't agree with that. I don't like the bloke, but he's a decent player and we should support him whilst he's in a Reading shirt.

And I fully expect these people to sit in their seats po-faced if Sidwell scores or assists a goal.

If they don't then they are hypocrytes and don't deserve to be there.

We're going to have plenty of away fans giving us grief FFS, the last thing we need is home fans doing the same.

I've noticed the only thing that really gets the whole crowd going is a goal or when the opposition fans start taking the piss.

I for one hope that as many fans as possible get behind the team. It always saddens me when the stadium goes quiet i like to get involved but i'm too timid unless i'm drunk (and seeing as i watch the games with me dad i can't get too drunk) or when the whole crowd gets going.

sidwell has naffed me off too this ummer.

he needs a serious reality check rather than wallowing in the hype on the last few seasons. imho he certainly has not been the best player outside the premeir league and needs to do a lot to make me feel he is worth more than the club has offered him.

i'd rather we sold to be honest

Without bringing in a replacement? You're off your trolley, mate.

You're supposed to encourage him to play better, not give him a volley of abuse. Call yourself a Reading fan!

He was in good form on Saturday and I'm sure that provided the plastics keep off his back he'll be up for it this season ... just wish he'd sign!

yes i do call myself a reading fan! i spend thounds a year, spend endless amounts of time traveling, watching, and talking about them if i feel there effort does not match mine then im well with in my right to give then stick regardless if it is sidwell or any other player!he should play well to encourage me! so im guessing you have never given a reading player abuse! what a great fan/liar you are. sit down and be quiet!

of course, with the cash i'd expect a replacement.

but there are players of equal quality available, with Prem experience for the price bandied about for Sidwell. i'd be happy to start with Harper and Gunnarsson (provided they are fit of course)

interesting the all the paper speculation about other clubs bidding for Sidwell has not actually generated an offer (as far as we know).

as i said, he's got a lot to prove and if after a season he looks good then fair enough.....

Oh goodie, I'm just about to get into a flame war with a newbie!

I don't believe in giving stick to players as it never does anything positive. Support is about getting behind players, not abusing them. You are the type of fan that I abhor. You're just one of those plastics.

There have been one or two bids for him that we have turned down. Remember he went up to Manchester City to have a look around?

I agree with M4 Junction 11. In GU4 I didn't hear any boos and thought Sid played well, as did the whole team until SC made 8 changes. I was pretty worried about the crowd of less than 10,000.... but roll on Saturday and our first Premiership points!

I think we should sing his name and show him we want him here! If people started booing me in my job i wouldn't want to stay but if i was getting some praise i would think twice if they are going to increase/match my wages.

i do however think he wants to leave even if we have a good first season in the prem. thats up to him, i would be saddened though as we would show we were good enough for this league without buying players worth over 2M. (if we stay up)

Yeah? Fine if you want a player to play to the best of his ability, but do you really think any form of abuse will help him to improve?

How would you like it if your boss or customers shouted constant abuse at you whilst you worked?

If a player is under performing you give him encouragement to improve, not shout abuse in his direction.
