Disciplinary Record

by handbags_harris » 20 Aug 2006 13:21

Just a quick stat. If I'm correct (which I believe I am) it is now 101 league matches without a sending off. In my mind an incredible statistic. How many other clubs can boast a record such as ours? 2 whole seasons without a sending off in the league...fantastic. And a credit to Coppell and the lads.

Ricky Newman was technically the last to get sent off in a cup game against Swansea was it?, can't remember the last league player though!

Steve Sidwell against Coventry at Highfield Road on 27 Mar 04. We won 2-1 with Salako and Goater scoring. McSheffrey I believe scored for Coventry. I know this because it was the last competitive match I missed for Reading.

And Ricky Newman was sent off against Leicester.

Wasn't Ricky only sent off for a second yellow too?

Correct. And the first booking was incorrect too. He clearly won the ball in a perfectly fair if typically Newmanesque robust challenge.

Phil Parkinson's forearm smash from 2000/01 or so used up our disciplinary problems for a few years.

I'm sorry but this cannot be correct. We always lose 2-1 to Coventry after taking the lead.

Oh fcuk....actually yes, you're right. I'd forgotten about that one! Sh*t!! Maybe I'd forgotten because it was such a totally unjust sending off that it just didn't register in my mind as a sending off.

Can't believe I got a stat wrong though  ooh, the shame!
