There is no way we can still owe close to that after the last 3/4 years. I still can't believe people think all the income from the prem years went on wages, we would have had to be paying the likes of stephen hunt, harper, doyle, etc on a par with john terry and frank lampard to still be accounting for it now. We've made by FAR the most money on player sales in the football league and half the clubs in the prem in the last 3/4 years and invested little in the team, we also didn't invest much at all in the team when we were in the prem. So either we were poorly run then, or we were poorly run now to still be paying out purely for wages and a loan from the chairman. Its quite frightening how a brick by brick well run club suddenly finds itself so badly in debt that we've become a complete selling club unable to invest sensibly like we did before we went up to the prem in the first place. The prem is supposed to make you stronger ( especially if you didn't invest like we did) not make you far weaker.

Good grief are we really going down the "where has all the money gone" route again?

You didn't get it the last 25 times it's been discussed to death so I'm sure you won't get it on the 26th time.

So I'm out.

We are going down the money route again, because low and behold its still effecting the team now.

FiNeRaIn Agreed, luckily for us thats not the debate here. Most of us want some of the clubs money spent on players, not the chairmans. For starters some of the 7 million for sig, or the other 20 odd million on players sales( more than any other club in the football league and half the prem) that we've received for players sales since we went down, thats well within our means. So luckily your statement doesn't apply here.

What is also evident from the accounts is that the chairman has not given one penny to the club. It is all loans which is why he is likely to be asking for a stupid price for the club.

he is not a football man - this was a business venture that has not worked out in the long run.

It's actually a business venture and personal venture that couldn't have gone more right.

I'm assuming you're a young sprog who has little idea of quite how far this club has come since John Madejski saved us from oblivion? Those of us that watched the club in the early 90's never dreamt we could ever watch this club compete at the highest level, let alone for back to back seasons and an 8th placed finish missing out on europe on the final day.

There's no hiding the fact that John Madejski always wanted this football club to become self sufficient, but let's be realistic, how many football clubs outside, let alone inside the Premiership actually achieve that?

To say "this was a business venture that has not worked out in the long run" is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on here!

Its time we accept the fact that our glory days are now behind us. Just like Neil Armstrong, we went to space and now we're back, and nobody gives a sh*t.

OK. In your mind, where has the money gone?

Do you think Madejski has taken it, which would be illegal?

Do you think the club are sitting on a vast fortune of cash, wish would also indicate false accounting, and also be illegal?

Or can you come up with another scenario where the published accounts hide the reality?

Not at all. It's seems to be only people like yourself, insisting we should be going for promotion, who feel conned.

Other can see the reality of the situation. They might not be happy with it, but being able to see why we aren't spending money we haven't got is hardly being conned.

Yes, Madejski has said some crap about wanting to push for promotion, but what kind of idiot actually believed that was any more than spin?
