Royal Lady After writing us off before the game, my decision appeared to be proven at half time - but what a turnaround - Morrison was immense all game and was my MOTM again - ALF was great, Tabb ran his socks off. I thought Gunter had a better game than previous showings. I think he'll come good for us. Disappointed with Legs and McAnuff - but all in all a fantastic second half and really proud of the fans who all seemed to perk up and cheer us on second half.

Special mention to the absolute helm who sits behind me (he's welsh and looks older than me) - at the awarding of the penalty, me and Stepson stood up, as did everyone else around us, but moaning bloke tugged at my coat and told us to sit down. WTF. You're allowed to stand at moments of excitement and EVERYONE else was standing - except for the boring "supporters" in the row behind us. Seriously, even when we scored the penalty, boring woman next to him didn't clap, didn't stand up, didn't cheer. Just sat there. Most odd. And then she left with 3 or 4 minutes to go.

I look forward to apologising for writing us off, come the end of the season - because with that type of fightback on show today - we really do stand a chance of survival. Well done McD, well done lads, well done (on the whole) to the fans.

Well said.

winchester_royal Good to see you all have your new boo boy though

Most said Tabb was shit last week when he was one of our best players. Some seriously short-sighted people on our forums.

To be fair Gunter wasn't bad. If he's our boo boy then it's a sign of things looking good!

Snowball I never leave early but "for a laugh" I stood up with two minutes to go
and said I had a bus to catch...

Great atmosphere, but, word of warning, it felt like my lower-league team had one against a prem side in the cup

Fully understand where you are coming from Snowball.
We are a Championship side playing in the Premier League and as many people have said during many discussions we have to give everything to get a result and today,in the second half we did and got the reward.
In the first half we weren't giving everything (neither physically nor in terms of concentration)and, but for Everton strolling, the game could have been over.

Presumably at half-time Brian said something on the lines of "Get out there and have a go otherwise I will get the sack and quite a few of you will have no future here either".
It worked and makes for a much happier Saturday night all round and listening to Brian it sounds as though he is on a promise.
Interesting that only two of Brian's summer signings played in our first win and of course Shorey has just come home-not sure what it says but none of:-
Pog
McLeary
Mariappa
Guthrie
started, for whatever reasons.

I stayed after the game and looked at the pitch. Pog walked out but looked p!ssed off.

I got the distinct impression he was not a happy bunny, despite the win, and, sadly,
I think he's another whose DNA doesn't match the blueprint.

First game ive managed to come to since Stoke on the opening day. Although ive been watching games online, going in to half time and seeing Brian in his suit I began thinking for the first time that his time with us was wearing thin. The goal we gave them was nothing short of embarrassing and I was gearing myself up for a bad afternoon.

Whatever was said at half time certainly shook them though. We looked premier league quality all of a sudden. Instead of allowing them to come at us time and time again, we took the game to them and the Everton back line must have been thinking 'o*ford where did this lot come from'!

It was great to see us turn the game on its head and almost reminiscent of the 06/07 team as we showed real quality and desire to get the win. I think we showed them (like we have other sides) a little too much respect in the first half but as above whatever was said certainly stuck a rocket up our arse.

There were negatives with Gunter and Gorkss both making countless errors, but I wouldn't like to upset the balance of the defence and now we have the win hopefully it will push them on for Wigan and they will learn from the errors made.

Very proud, relieved and excited after hearing the final whistle.

Oh and what was that sh!tty bracknell flag the Everton fans were trying to pass back before the game, not even their fans wanted to carry it

I think Pog & Alfie should be tried. Both can cope well with ball to feet.

Absolutely elated that my first ever premier league game ended with a fantastic result against one of the better teams in the country. Everton completely bossed the first half, and I knew at that we had to get better in the second to get any sort of result, which we certainly did. Stand out players for me were Morrison who was a rock at the back, Tabb who gave another industrious display in midfield, and of course Alfie for his goals. Hal was also looking good as a threat down the left. I don't think anyone had a bad game for us.

Hmm, dunno about that. I think they may be too similar, in that they are both shoot on sight-ers. (Exagg)

Roberts never really looks like scoring but he does bring other players in very well.

Agree it's harsh on Roberts. Roberts always has a decent game, holds the ball up well, gets in the ref's face etc but I'd still like to see what Alfie & Pog could do.

On recent games, Roberts is by far our most important striker.

I'd be interested to see Pog and Roberts, but frankly Pog's body-language/attitude after the gamne looked baaaad

Spot on, Roberts holds the ball up, runs the channel's and is just a beast of man.

I thought Roberts did a much better job of staying on his feet today and looked more dangerous today than he has done so far this season.

Tale of two halves.

First half, well we were a shambles from the start and yet still managed to work opportunities to show a hint of ability to trouble Everton's defence despite only 36% of possession. Everton looked dominate but incapable of being clinical and the ref paid back the Torres and Ba goals by not giving what looked like two reasonably clear penalties against us.

Second half, Everton were clearly expecting to come out and walk to victory, but we shot out the blocks and put them under pressure. Suddenly they struggled to get the ball to Fallaini effectively and stopped being a force to be reckoned with. We got lucky a couple of times, but we piled on the pressure and finally got something to go our way. Probably not a game we really deserved to win and one Everton have every right to be fuming not to have won. But as we've learnt this season, if you don't lock down that result, its your own fault if someone steals it from you.

Federici - 6.5 good game, didn't do a lot wrong, don't think I saw him deal with a lot where he was hugely tested. But my stream did break up a little now and then.
Gunter - 5.5 some poor moments, but I don't think he was awful... I don't see a lot of what his haterz have against him
Shorey - 8 he's a cut above everyone in our team.
Gorkss - 4 could barely put a foot right and seemed to want to get himself sent off. Shame he'll play again next time now. I'd like to see whether Gunter could come good with a decent centreback pairing.
Morrison - 8 MOTM Absolute rock. I think this guy may have it all.
HRK - 7 caused problems most of the game. I'd have prefered to see him on the right rather than moving McAnuff from where he's been effective.
McAnuff - 6 unusually poor game from the captain
Ledge - 6 terrible first half, really did look like Legsofwood and HeartofIdon'tgiveacrap. So much better second half.
Tabb - 7 bypassed first half and not particularly in the game. Another great showing afterwards.
Roberts - 7 terrible first touch sometimes, but he's so aware of his surroundings and options its untrue. Caused problems all game.
ALF - 8 patchy finishing, but he's getting in the positions and he's having a crack. I think he'll soon find that sweet connection that'll result in a better conversion rate, providing he gets a run of games with Roberts.

Hunt - 7 worked hard to kill the game

McDermott - safe, for a while at least - that is the improvement we've needed to show since Arsenal and we got it, now lets keep it going. He's got the rub of the green today and he needs to build something with that. His management so far has been, at best, disappointing this season. I don't for one second think that a win over Everton solves our problems and he is involved in those, but it's very definitely a step in the right direction. We all know he has a magic wand when it comes to a bit of belief and a tricky situation.

When it's a rhetorical question, yes. Wasn't that the point?

Or am I am I giving you far too much credit?

I don't know what was said at half time but it was an incredible turnaround. I honestly thought we had hit rock bottom after the first 45. For me, to come out and perform like that against an impressive Everton side was incredible, and more importantly we didn't panic at the end. Morrison showed incredible maturity today and now this can be the springboard to start moving up the table a bit more hopefully. :)

Snowball The odds on my bet were crap as they were at the game.

Those are very very very good odds for the bets you did, I used to work in Betfred and usually those type of scorecast bets for a striker to be the scorer would be 40-1 max

For instance online for Rodallega to score first and fulham to win 2-0 is 33-1 and thats for a home team, even the away team and to win 2-0 and fletcher to score first is only 60-1.

So for a home team striker to score first in a 2-0 home win 100-1 is excellent odds

Morrison and Tabb are cocking a snook at this division ...........not good enough for the Championship last season, its no coincidence that their inclusions have included our best results this one
