Pepe the Horseman He played in Euro '96. I went to see him for Bulgaria v Spain at Elland Road.

Wow. I take it back. I thought he'd retired from football about three weeks after joining us.

I saw him play against England at Wembley whilst a Reading player...
He always recovered from whatever injury was keeping him out of our team when internationals came along and then suffered a mysterious relapse just afterwards

Don't really see what's funny about that to be honest. They're a small nation, and Taylor is youngster who's grabbed two goals from midfield this season. Fair play to him and them for giving him the chance!

Great support for our academy there sir. We're only a small nation, with a very young side mixed with some tremendous players in the likes of Bale, Ramsey, Williams. Oh what England could do with a Bale or Ramsey.

Delighted for Taylor, but no way is he good enough for an international call-up. Even from Wales.

I am sure we'll cope as we qualify for Euro 2016 with ease while you struggle to beat San Marino or some other such fellow mickey mouse principality.

Norwood played the first 79 minutes of Norn Iron's 2-1 win in Hungary. The two goals coming after he had already gone off, of course.

The LOL for me comes from seeing them calling up Lower Earley's finest just because he has a Welsh grandparent.

I understand why the likes of Pearce/Cox/Taylor decide to play for other countries, but I've got a lot more respect for the Kitson/Harper attitude - they're not actually from there, so why should they play ahead of someone who is genuinely Irish/Welsh/Ghanaian and would better represent their country?

(I'm also a bit embarrassed to see our squad allegedly made up of "Jamaican" and "Irish" players who are actually from London and the Home Counties. Makes us look like we've imported foreign talent)

Trouble is nationality in sporting terms is totally different to what the man in the street might think of their 'nationality'. Hence you can have brothers playing at the highest level for different countries. In football terms you are Welsh if a grandparent was Welsh, those are the rules. And In Taylor's case his family have always considered themselves Welsh, certainly on his father's side. It's not like he's suddenly found his granny once went to Rhyl...

And another significant reason he's playing for Wales is of course that they asked him to. Perhaps if England had approached him he would have thought twice, but as I say I suspect he's pretty comfortable calling himself Welsh. Possibly more so than Pearce is in calling himself Scottish, or Irish....
