Old Biscuitman Tomorrow, little to lose. Caution to the winds and throw them both in if fit, I say. If they can pass even half of the test Gerrard will give them, that will teach them more about the English game than a dozen games in the Reserves.

Looking back, I'm glad that SC decided not to folllow my recommendation.

Just seen this in the Coppell article from yesterday about tempting players to the Mad in January:

“I think we do need to supplement the team this January, but if we can’t then we will just keep going as we have.â€

No they have to be available first. We can locate a player that we want, and bid a stupid amount but if his current club refuse to sell there's not much you can do about it.

Rest of it is a nothing comment, he's basically said "we know we need some more players, we'll try to get them but if we can't then we have to carry on with our current squad"

Read any interview given by a manager in the last week or so regarding transfers, they all use roughly the same words.

It's a soundbite, no more, no less.

I'll have Pedro Mendes as well please - they both appear to be on their way out in January if the press is to be believed.

Right people i didn't tell you this but things are looking good on the Taylor front.

Clubs agreed fee.

Player happy with terms offered.

Player happy with club facilities and personnel after having had a look around.

Contracts to be exchanged on 1st Jan so barring any late stupid bids from the top few clubs then he is ours.....RESULT!

Then, if he does come, I hope his football is better than his politics.

We will have to wait and see (if slinky is correct on this), but there could be a tendency to just consider the few outstanding goals he has scored and neglect to consider his overall attributes.

This move would more than likely signal the end of Shorey's time at Reading. I prefer Shorey as a player and would ideally like him to stay, but I doubt that is really an option and we have got to replace him.

Anyway, heres hoping Matty Taylor is a success at the club (if he does end up signing)
