My nephew was in the same year as Stewart. He says that school was terrible. Maiden Erlegh will put up some sort of memorial, though they haven't decided what yet.

Heard a bit more about the circumstances surrounding this last night - nothing but sympathy for everyone affected by it.

S09Royal I have just sent an email to the club, asking if they'd consider holding a minutes applause in honor of Stewart this Saturday.
If many more of you contact the club, requesting this, i can't see why, they wouldn't do this.

May God's mercy be upon Stewarts family and friends.
R.I.P Stewart.

Minutes applause are nonsense. Silence is more respectful.

'Greed. Applause are for when a footballing great has died expectedly. Silence should be reserved for tragic events like this.

While I have no issue with it being debated surely it is up to the parents to make the decision as to wether there is applause or silence?

As a father my heart goes out to his family - I simply cannot imagine what they are going through at the moment. RIP Stewart.

R.I.P

Simply a heartbreaking story, I have to say the noise that's coming back regarding how supportive the club has been is encouraging. I hope that we as a club can help bring some comfort to Stewarts family and his friends, and everyone concerned. I personally feel the minutes silence would be more appropriate and would expect/hope that one could hear a pin drop. Once again, R.I.P Stewart.

if there is no silence (though im sure there will be at such a tragic time) i suggest the fans organise a silence at a given time during the match just incase, as a mark of respect for the young lad.

thoughts are with his family

I shall be in my there Saturday with my my 14 year old as usual whatever happens (silence/ clapping) its going to be very emotional. All three of my children attend ME school and as was mentioned earlier the mood of bereavement is tangible in the school. For my son who often walked to school with Stewart I can't imagine how he's going to feel but I will be there for him. Myself and my family would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Stewart's family however I do realise that words mean very little at a time like this our thoughts are with you.

I real tragedy.

I would have thought a minutes silence more appropriate than a minutes applause, hope they opt for that.

A minute's silence is a time for reflection; a minute's applause is in celebration of someone's life. However they choose to commemorate Stewart's life I hope everyone respects it.

It's going to be a very sad game on Saturday. My son was a friend of Stewart's and also played alongside him in the school football team. We will be there on Saturday and I know many of his friends from Maiden Erlegh are also going to the game. The children of Year 9 at Maiden Erlegh have been completely devastated by this awful tragedy. My heart goes out to Stewart's mum, Janet and his brother Calum. RIP Stewart xxxxx

So tragic when there is the loss of such a young life and a promising talent. RIP Stewart.

With a minutes applause you are unlikely to hear the idiots from Reading or Southampton. However, I agree a silence is more appropriate sometimes.

I refuse to believe that anyone from any club would sour a minute's silence of this nature.
