Royal With Cheese Tommy Smith mk2!

I couldn't argue if Sigi went to a top 6 club.

But what if he goes to Liverpool?

Anyone explain why the reported fee with Liverpool is at £8.2 when they accepted £6.8 from Swansea?

More bids on the table inflates the price? Because they can afford it, because the Hoffs decided they wouldn't mind him back so its got to be worth their while.

Because it was part of Swansea's loan agreement apparently.

If Nicky Hammond really got us a sell on clause of the total rather than just profit then sorry Focher you are out of work, I am going to get Nicky to sell my house. I can just imagine it now:

"No, it's not a 3 bed semi, it's a Luxurious mansion. That's right, 20% of any monies received when you sell the house, additional payments fo re-decorating, putting up an extension and mowing the lawn. Finally, first refusal as a buy-back clause once you have finished the renovations."

Cool :D .

Yet they had an earlier bid rejected? How does that work...

More likely everything in the media is pure speculation and lies.

That was just media speculation, nothing was confirmed.

Daily Mail

Hoffenheim have given midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson a deadline of June 30 to secure a move to the Barclays Premier League.
The Iceland international had been set to complete a return to Swansea, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, for a club-record £6.8million fee.
However, the departure of manager Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool halted the deal before the 22-year-old could have his medical and Anfield now seems to be his preferred destination.
Last week Rodgers admitted he would be interested in signing the midfielder but stressed the player had to first speak to Swansea - who appointed Michael Laudrup as their new boss on Friday.
Sigurdsson's German club, who began pre-season training on Monday, have granted extended leave in order for him to complete a move to England.
'Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the start of pre-season,' said a statement on the club's website. 'He has, after consultation, obtained a prolonged holiday until 30 June.
'The club wants the 22-year-old to continue to secure a future in the Premier League.'
Hoffenheim head coach and former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel said it was best for all parties if the player had the time to sort out a move.
'Gylfi wants to stay in England and is in negotiations there,' he said.
'Thus it makes no sense for both sides for him to return to Hoffenheim, perhaps only for a few days.

Elm Park Pasty Countdown to Meltdown...........

Guaranteed nothing to happen before 30th June, massive anticlimax. Deal to go through in August sometime after a nice long summer of pointless speculation.

Hoffenheim boss Markus Babbel says he does not expect Sigurdsson to return to Germany but insists Swans remain the only club to have bid.

Swansea is the only club who made an offer. Still, no other club have made one. What Swansea bid is acceptable, we would do that. It’s now about Gylfi and Swansea.

“How far talks are with between Liverpool and Gylfi? I can’t tell.”

They don't have much reason to lie about it either.

RUMOUR- Gylfi to meet with Zingarevich & McDermott

by Reading4eva » 21 Jun 2012 13:32

In a clear show of our power, an extremely good source has informed me that Gylfi Sigurdsson and his agent has agreed to meet with Zingarevich and McDermott. The time and date of the meeting are unconfirmed, but will be by Tuesday afternoon at the latest. This doesnt mean Sigurdsson's final decision will be made on that day, but he will have met with all the interested parties.
From the information I have gained here are the pro's and con's as to the move to ourselves

PROS:
 Happy as he knows the club, likes the club's etho's
 Has a lot of time for McDermott, and several of the players (most notably Gunnarsson and Karacan)
 Understands he is regarded highly the new and old regimes at Reading
 Not particularly happy with manner in which his move to Swansea was conducted
 Confident of getting his game, which with the other two clubs involved (there are a total of 5), he wouldnt be

CONS:
 The chance to play for a big 4 club doesnt come along often
 Fear of relegation, whereas with two of the clubs, relegation would be extreme
 Respect for all of the managers involved

Now I know you might not take this as gospel, and the source I am not going to share but lets say he has been correct with McCleary, Roberts and Cwyka. More importantly, is who is the other club in the two seen as extreme of going down. Liverpool is a safe bet, but who is the other? No club names have been given and I have probed my source to get this info for you, but other than what I have.... all else is speculation.

I've heard rumours of interest from Man Utd and Newcastle so it could be either of them, no idea as to the credibility of the rumours though.
