Holt the dolt STEVE'S NO SAINT
PLENTY of observers attempted to paint Stephen Hunt as a man of saintly innocence over his appalling challenge that fractured Petr Cech's skull.
An accident, they said. Such a quiet lad, too. Not given to that kind of thing at all. No track record of nasty challenges. Not in his nature.
I thought of that when I saw Hunt launching a double-footed tackle at the Reading mascot 10 days ago in the aftermath of Reading's opening goal against Sheffield United. How playful.
And it appears Hunt's preferred goal celebration is not to punch the air or raise a forefinger in triumph.
Funnily enough, it involves a manic double-footed challenge on the corner flag.
Anyone sense a pattern emerging here? Petr Cech probably does.

Holt,
My attention was drawn to your recent column in the Daily Mirror which quite rightly slated Reading's criminally insane midfielder Stephen Hunt for a quite despicable two footed lunge on the corner flag after scoring against West Ham back on New Years Day. You are of course quite right in wanting the game rid of this kind of disgraceful behaviour which could cause someone a series injury - think of the groundsman injuring his hand removing a splintered flag!
However, I think you have missed a trick. Hunt's most recent shameful actions against Sheffield United showed the man up for the thug he is. There was a most disturbing incident as he firstly headbutted keith Gillespie's elbow and then followed this up with a similar assault on Gillespie's fist. I am sure you will be quick to bring this to the attention of your readers in your next award winning column.
Keep up the fantastic work,
Y.S etc.
