FiNeRaIn
AbovetheI
FiNeRaIn We have a poor away following, what else is new?

Its about time people accepted this rather than coming up with excuses like " it was a midweek game, travel was tough, etc".
They might be logical responses to the average human being, but die hard supporters go everywhere, we have far less of them than everyone else...hence we have a crap away following, one of the worst in the division.

Im not complaining or taking an opportunity to moan, its just the way it is and its backed up by fact if you look at the numbers.

Then what are you doing?

stating facts.

Whilst complaining & moaning. :?

Cardiff's say

by hughsies no.1 » 26 Nov 2008 09:55

Sorry i felt this warranted a new thread :

Well, they say football is a game of two halves and that is exactly how it was last night. For half an hour we looked like world beaters. Going forward we had pace, imagination and skill, Gypes was excellent at the back and the introduction of him and Enckelman seems to have instilled a bit of confidence in Johnson. However, and I don't wish to be unkind to the guy, Comminges just isn't good enough at this level even in his natural position of RB; he got skinned for their equaliser partly because he was too far forward again, his distribution was woeful and he constantly gets caught out of position. He's a liability.

Personally, I thought both penalty and sending off were a bit harsh, but overall we deserved to be in front at the break. The second half was all Reading apart from a shot from Chopra over the bar at the end and they thoroughly deserved a point. DJ brings off Bothroyd who must have been feeling the pace - fair enough, but then he switches Comaaage to the left [why?] and takes off Kennedy for Blake. As Comaaage goes forward Routledge doesn't get the ball anymore as he plays it in field to Mc Phail or Rae at every opportunity and once again we go sideways or backwards. Roger Johnson then decides he is going to be the playmaker and surges forward down the right hand side at every opportuntity before stopping and hoofing every cross straight to their keeper or behind for a goal kick. We simply ran out of ideas and in the end could have lost the game. Credit to Reading they stifled our creativity in the second half and we had no answer. Mc Phail and Rae were truly abyssmal in the second half with no penetration and both gave the ball away far too easily trying to play fancy touches or balls that nobody else could read. So, DJ has addressed most of the defensive issues - please Mc Naughton be fit for Sunday, Ross, Jay and Chopra can definitely play together with the excellent Routledge as the supply route, he must now sort out the paperweight and uncreative midfield. Not a rant, as we did play some great stuff, but some of these players are seasoned professionals - how can they constantly fail to deliver week after week?

Finally, I thought the Reading fans were excellent - the best away suport at NP this season both in numbers and noise.

ha- no word of a lie.

i was a bit surpirsed at first but to be honest we were loud and really getting behind the lads, it was a real tough all round performance and as every ball got lofted into our box i dunno if it was the same for anyone else but i basically thought i was trying to get it back out. sounds stupid i know but the players and supporters all did themselves justice last night. long live standing at football matches!

Which just proves what many can't seem to understand. It's not quantity that counts, it's quality.

Just imagine how few and quiet all the others must have been if an empty Reading end provided the best away support so far this season. Time for you to log on to all their websites and have a dig...you're plumb out of quality observations on this 'un.

I thought that the fans who did travel did a good job of making noise but thats the lowest amount of fans we've taken to Cardiff in recent years.

If by "recent years" you mean the last three then yes, you're absolutely spot on.
