Admirable but not extraordinary, because we know what Gunnarsson and Karacan can do. In fact, I began to wonder if Karacan might be worth converting to a right back: he has the build and tenacity for it. As a midfielder he lacks a certain passing ability and maybe always will.

Clever team selection by Brian.

He looked very sound there and had pace/skillz coming forward

Royal Rother
Avon Royal
Royal Rother We battled well enough I suppose and Man City were very average for their status but really it was men against boys.

No it wasn't.

They were bigger, stronger, faster, more mobile and quicker mentally than us. Despite playing well below their potential they just snuffed us out all over the park.

The men against boys analogy seems pretty apt to me.

Nonetheless we put up a decent enough effort and have nothing whatsoever to be ashamed of.

I don't agree at all. City huffed and puffed and their fans were really panicky every time Kebe was running at them. They controlled the game but I was confident we could hold on for a draw as they only spasmodically created chances. They were the better side and I've no complaints but losing very narrowly to a goal late on does not equate to men against boys.

cmonurz We had one shot on target, and never looked like scoring. I admire your optimism, buzzby, but to say we deserved a replay is stretching it a bit.

Defending doesn't count, then?

They never hammered us, never tore us to pieces,

Don't get me wrong, we can be very proud of the side today, they battled hard, tackled hard, for the most part passed well, but City were a class above us, and with a bit more composure in front of goal, could easily have won 3-0. Silva was wasteful, Tevez scuffed a couple of shots, Toure was through a couple of times.

They were the home side. The onus was on them to attack. We were looking comfortable with 15 to go. They were the better side but we had a game-plan and were well-organised. We very nearly pulled off a draw and would have deserved it. Beaten by the better side. Yes. Outclassed. No.
