old and slow
but scores goals, is on a free, short term deal, and more than fills the hole in the front line (in terms of sheer bulk)

decent enough, but by god I cant wait for the high earners to piss off, so we can start operating like a proper football club again

Yakubu has scored more Premier League goals (95) than both Cristiano Ronaldo (84) & Dennis Bergkamp (87).

Stop moaning about his age, it means nothing, wasn't Roger Milla really about 50 in the 1990 World Cup and he still put em away at the top level.

Maybe Nobby Clarke will use him sparingly as an impact sub or to be the 'one up top' when trying to see out a game we happen to be winning???

Worst signing ever.

Hopefully he'll stay in the treatment room and we won't get to be disappointed by him.

I was more excited when Drenthe signed.

Winston Smith Cant imagine what obscene wage (payp or not) has tempted him to move back here to have another go

meanwhile Eoin Doyle joins Cardiff for £400k upfront.....

Or £750k upfront depending on which sources you believe.

Doyle would look to tick a few boxes for us from reading reports but it sounds like we've not shown any interest even though he's probably in our price range.

To me that says that we're just not that impressed by him.

Signing Yakubu is a low cost gamble that sounds like a good bit of short term business. No idea if he's still fit or still interested enough to show enough to improve our squad but if he is then we've possibly got a good alternative to our other options as he's nothing like our other forwards.

Gilksy What's with the questions over his age? He looks 32, and is, apparently, 32. :|

I can't see why so many are questioning his age. He signed for Tel Aviv when he was 17 in 1999. 32 seems pretty accurate to me.

Wycombe Royal
tidus_mi2 Because teams relegated from the Prem are exempt from FFP in their first season in the Championship.

No they aren't.

The newly relegated clubs must comply with the FFP rules in full. During their first December in the Championship, a newly relegated club does not have to submit their accounts for the previous season (i.e. the accounts relating to the season when they were in the Premier League). However QPR, Reading and Wigan will need to submit their accounts for the 2013/14 season to the Football League (and will be hit with a sanction if their 2013/14 accounts show that losses exceeded the permitted thresholds).

The only reason you may think they don't have to comply is because during their first season back in the Championship they don't have to submit any accounts, but that is only because they relate to their previous season in the Premier League.

Hmm then I can only suggest they're doing a QPR and ignoring the FFP rules in the hopes of going up at the first time.

There were question marks after Moyes said while he was playing for Everton that he was 25 but "an African 25", which people linked to the not-uncommon practice (or stereotype) of African players lying about their age.

Also, a cached page from Maccabi Haifa states his DOB as being 1977 putting him at 37.

OR they know the FFP is a joke and hope for it to go away before it gets serious.

Do you think this is why the average life expectancy is a lot lower in African countries?
