England also went on to win the game by 14 runs, after scoring 113-4 in their innings with captain Dan Lincoln making 56 off 26 balls.

Player of the match Lincoln featured in two T20 Blast games and one County Championship fixture for Kent earlier this year after there was a Covid outbreak within their squad.

Lincoln has also previously played for Middlesex and was on the books of Championship club Reading as a goalkeeper, making the bench for two league games in the 2014-15 campaign.

Will post this on the cricket thread for the cricket aspect as well...

bit bored last night so had a little check round some of the players who got released last year/on loan

Dorsett seems to be playing regularly at Rochdale which is encouraging. Not sure on the levels of performance but good enough to say in

Jokull back on the bench, but sounds like the regular number 1 had a crap game against Wycombe so may come back in

Aluko barely getting on the pitch for Ipswich. Started 1 game I think. And to think some people thought we might have kept him on here...

Didnt realise but Jack Nolan moved onto Accrington. Not playing much I dont think for them

Ryan East regular unused sub at Swindon.

Pendlebury appeared for Wycombe, scored a couple and not been seen much since. Not sure if injured though. McCleary and Obita still a big part of their set up there though which is nice.

Smith looks a regular sub at Cambridge but getting some game time.

going back a bit further, Lewis Ward doesn't seem to be getting any games - now at Swindon, which is a shame as thought he looked ok.

Good update - thank you.

McCleary continues to be a revelation at Wycombe. Friend of mine who is season ticket holder saying he is too good for them and the division and clearly their player of the year so far.

Ward made his debut today, made a couple of top saves apparently, including a penalty save, see if he keeps his place next week when the regular is back from internationals

Link from TheTilehurstEnd, to an interview with Gomes.

This is him on the start of the 2019/2020 season.

"When I found out about the new signings, without being consulted, I told the board that I was leaving. The club had spent money that could have been better invested. I was persuaded to stay."

Posted at the time that Morrison was signed without Gomes’ knowledge and he was happy with his centre back options.

Indeed, I was told at the time that Morrison turned up and Gomes literally had no idea who he was.
Of course Gomes would probably be man enough to admit it was a very good signing.....

Always amused me given Morrison came in and was by far our best defender. Just showed what Gomes knew about defending.

Remember Gomes saying in that podcast with Adie Williams that he regretted not leaving that summer when he wanted to.

Yeah, he could have gone out on a low, instead of a very very low.

If he had left the summer after keeping us up, he would very much have gone out on a high.

The fandom was very happy with Gomes at the end of that season. If he had resigned at that point, he would almost certainly be held up as "one who got away".
