A few have written them off on here and various places. No manager, not in running etc etc. Only source confirming we'd even offered, let alone more money than Liverpool is twitter and HNA, Reading fans too. Seems that was actually Spurs makes sense in a way, he was in London before going to Iceland. Where he held his talks?

andrew1957 This makes what I say look even more likely. Glad to see Rodgers is furious.

Just goes to show that all the supposedly ITK posters actually know nothing at all. They all seem very quiet now and I am waiting for some humble pie if the move to Spurs is confirmed.

Two horse race between LFC and RFC my arse!

This move is always a long shot, he was a step above us in quality even when he was a teenager, no idea how we got him into our academy.

The fat lady hasn't sung yet - I'm clinging onto the hope that it's all wrong and Gylfi is coming home until I see it officially announced and him holding a Spurs shirt.

On reflection this is very good news.

Now there might be a space in the 25 for Simon Church. As they are big mates perhaps that is why Gylfi has chosen Spurs.

Because Arsenal and Preston ( ) didn't follow up on their interest at trial.

Can see why we've bid and it's impressive just how we've gone about making a concerted and credible attempt.

If Spurs land him then they owe us one. He only delayed signing for Liverpool in the first place because of our involvement.

I guess we'll know by the end of the week when he's unveiled holding a shirt somewhere. It's gotten to a stage now where I'm hearing so much sh/t from even reliable people mixing credible info with speculation.

Outside of our involvement I genuinely have no idea anymore.

Who of the reliable posters has said we will definitely sign Gylfi? I haven't seen one. Only that we have bid and it does seem like we have. Too many good track records on here backing eachother up for it to be wrong.

And just because we bid doesn't mean we get. We're competing against LOLiverpool and Spurs. Some people really need to wake up if they think a player will choose us over them. But to be in contention is fantastic.

Gylfi is much more similar to Van de Vaart than Modric. I wonder if R VdV is off...

I would absolutely love him to come back here - he is a joy to watch - but failing that, it will be nice to see him playing for Spurs and challenging for the top 4...

Agreed. I don't remember anyone saying this was a done deal, just that we were in the frame. The feeling has always been that we were the outsiders here, firstly to Liverpool and then to THFC too. I think a few on here over egged their anticipation of his return, whilst forgetting that he hadn't actually agreed to return. This is not over yet but is not looking positive. There are so many things being said by different people about where he is going, but there is only one person's voice that is important, and he hasn't spoken yet so fingers crossed!

ITKers yesterday saying Spurs hadn't even bid and that it was a two horse race.

This may well be true but it's serious blow to their credentials if it turns out he's signing for a club they said he hadn't even spoken too.

Let's hope for all our sakes this isn't true.

ITK were all over Spurs, weren't they? No mention of a meltdown on here, either.

It's been fun listening to people In The Know, although perhaps they would like to adopt a new title. KFA perhaps.

Sounds like spurs only came in over the weekend, it's doubtful the ITK people heard much new over the weekend except that gylfi was making a decision over the weekend.

If spurs then called his agent there's no reason he couldn't have done a deal whilst gylfi mulled everything over.

Plausible then that the ITK's would know nothing of that deal being drawn up.
