floyd__streete No, what will happen is their creditors will be forced to take a tiny percentage of what they are owed and the club will be allowed to continue and compete on equal terms with frugal clubs like Reading.

We're hardly a frugal club if we have to find £4M-ish in player sales every season. To me thats just as unsustainable a business plan as Leicester's chucking the cash around in the hope of making it to the Premiership plan. We've had more than enough time to get our finances back down to Championship level.

What if he wanted to go.

Didn't sign an improved contract and can go for free in the near future.

Get rid I say. No question about ambition, he wanted out, we got a good fee.

Good luck to him. Hopefully the Leicester fans will appreciate what a good defender he is and will become more than the Rofleading fans.

I'd LOLaugh if Sven "got it together" with Mills' missus. Probably the only reason he signed him.

its not so much Mills deciding he wants to go, more that the club needs a big fee for any player each season to even the budget out. I can understand Mills wanting to go, its his hometown club, undoubtedly they'll be offering him more money and they're probably more likely to go up than us next season.

Have a feeling we'll now sign the Colchester defender.

I'm not surprised JM isn't retiring with all this money he's making from transfers. I just hope your scouts are on commission.

YAY! Money in the bank!

I can't wait to put my season ticket to good use sitting infront of the bank, watching that ol' money!

Sell the stadium too! Then we can all just pile into Santander and stare at an on-screen balance every fkucing Saturday!

YAY!

P.S. Each 'complainers investment' isn't comparable individually. For Uke's point to work, there would need to be just one individual unhappy with the clubs investment policy.

(18,000 minus the number of unquestioning loyalists) X £400 season ticket
+ merchandise
+ consumables

I reckon that gets us fans at least a Mills, if not two thirds a Long, to divvy up between us.

I WANT MY MILLS FINGER.

PEARCEY Why do we have another friggin black hole? We sold Siggy and that along with the other sales would have more than covered last season's black hole even allowing for in-comings. Add into the mix the FA Cup run/play-offs and I'm struggling with this latest black hole concept.
We didn't seem to have this problem on the way up to the Premiership.

its a yearly hole in the finances- each year we spend more than we bring in. its probably closer to 2 million this time due to wage bill reduction, but it will need servicing every season until we fill the ground each week, put up ST prices or go up to the prem.

i also believe i heard that the black hole was referred to as for this coming season when sig was sold.

i agree though, that almost all of whatever comes in for anyone moving out of the club should be made available to brian,
minus some cash to service whatever the annual black hole is going to be

£5 Million is a great price for Mills, just a shame practically nothing will be spent on a replacement, if any at all. I'm just waiting for the "Irons in the Fire" statements, followed by "Happy With What We've Got" when we cannot secure a player for a shoe lace and half a pickled egg, then the "Deficit" will rear it's ugly head…Finally.. the money disappears into the Black Hole but we will still believe Madejski is God and anyone who criticises him should be hung drawn a quartered.

As long as the bald one is allowed to reinvest all of the proceeds in our squad then this is a good bit of business.

I think there have been some serious question marks about his temperament and behaviour and he has hardly gone out of his way to endear himself to our support (my son said that he as good as blanked supporters who had gone to see the players off from the Mad Stad prior to the playoff final and had to be encouraged to return and mingle).

I look forward to returning his gesture with interest when he next appears at the Mad Stad!

You're normally spot on Gazza, is this from a source? I'd settle for that tbh.

The more I think of it if Mills is worth £5M then Shane must be worth £15M.

I see Shane as being a real loss to the squad whereas I cannot help thinking Mills is eminently replaceable.
