Southbank Old Boy In the flesh he still looked pretty poor to be honest

Maybe the telly coverage makes him look better than his live performances. It could explain his inflated reputation

You may have hit the nail on the head there-they made nothing of his pathetic attempt at a shot with his right foot in the first half(were you watching Woodcote? ) but creamed themselves when he chased back and won a tackle near the end.
I'll never be a fan of his but I was relieved to see him make a reasonable contribution tonight for a change and as he is likely to stay for the rest of the season(and is undroppable) I want him playing like that rather than as in so many other games, the worst of which was Saints away.

I did start to write a whole load of stuff here, but I couldn't be arsed to get it all out.
So I deleted it and just put this.

Tonight was a great game of football.

All the 'purists' will go on about misplaced passes, and percentages. etc. etc.

The fact is we have a great TEAM.

All of the players are a part of that. ALL OF THEM.

Some people on here have chosen a player to hate for the sole purpose of trying to make themselves look like some sort of 'pundit'.

At the end of the day, we are second and on a charge to the top of the league.

That is because we have a TEAM.

S Hunt is a key part of that team.

If he leaves in the Jan. window, we will suffer.

Another assist tonight.

People need to look past their own bias and start to appreciate what this team is achieving.

That is all.

"Tonight was a great game of football"
Maybe you lost your audience there-"great",the most overused word in the English language?
Maybe you had just a few too many sherberts?

Maybe you have forgotten why you started watching football?

Instead of answering my point, you choose to dicuss contemporary language.

Stop trying to be a pundit and enjoy watching Reading.

Otherwise just go and ring 606 every night.

As a participant in the ongoing debate I thought Hunty was back to his best tonight. Fantastic work rate as always but at least three pieces of quality in open play two of which resulted in goals and one (cross for Kebe at the start of the second half) which probably should have done.
I think that not having played for best part of two weeks has a lot to do with that. His whole game is dependant on his ability to cover vast amounts of ground at pace. If he is a yard off the pace (which I believe he has been in recent weeks and second half of last season) then he looks a very average footballer.
If he stays and can maintain tonights level of performance then we'll be all the better for it :)

Not picking you up on language you can't help that especially as you have obviously had a few-in my eyes that was a good result but NOBODY else on here has said it was a great game of football.

"not picking you up on language"??????

You clearly were!!

And if you will indulge me, I suggest you call the police, as someone has stolen the punctuation keys from your computer, and made your post very difficult to read to the English speaking world.

Maybe I am missing the point here, but this is a Reading Football Club board, and I am a Reading fan, and I (and Mrs P&D) thoroughly enjoyed watching that game of football tonight. It was very entertaining.

I refer to my earlier point about wannabe pundits. Either enjoy the game, or despair at the misplaced passes, missed tackles etc.
If you really were that much of an expert on football, you would be working in the game.
Not sitting at your keyboard writing about how those who are out there doing it are failing.

P&D,
Are the lagers wearing off yet?
How much of the "great" game did you miss in the Gents?
My point was (same as the majority) that it wasn't a great game-see the press report under another thread-so you thinking it was a great game meant that I found it hard to believe whatever else you wrote.
It was a cracking result but IMHO not a great game.

As for little Hunt time will tell if his going makes any difference.
If he stays I hope he doesn't drift back into being the nonentity that he was in the second part of last season and thankfully tonight he showed much better form than he has done for ages.
Long may that continue.

1. I didn't drink any lager tonight. I didn't miss any of the game, as my bladder is trained to hold out for at least 45 minutes.
2. Terribly sorry for using the word 'great', it obviously offends you. Please advise on a better word to use. Otherwise, I guess I will have to stop enjoying watching a game of football in the pub unless you give me permission.
3. The majority is always right. So please tell the Wright brothers, Einstein, and all the great inventors that they should just follow the crowd, because majority rules right? Thank God that is not the case, or we would all live in a world run by The Sun newspaper, and we would all still believe (because we are told) that the sun revolves around the earth.

Was huntys best game in ages, ran about loads, did alot of good stuff, and the usual load of utter toilet,
just feels like he did it for the t.v and the scouts.
Another assist and really grabbed the game by the balls in the second half

I hope that we do not have to lose Hunty but if we have to scout around for other players, we could do much worse than enquire about Ross Wallace at Preston, although I doubt very much if they would want him to go.

But read the 'report' and you will struggle to find any substance to support the heading. So he wants to play in the PL rather than the Championship. The NOW could get that quote out of any Championship player if they wanted to!!

Seems a case of Sky and the NOW trying to make a story out of nothing.
