personally I trust Fordham who has spoken to Hammond, more than I trust anyone who claims to be ITK and won't reveal who their mystery source is.

Royal With Cheese I feel like a bloke in the disco who thinks a stunner is giving him the eye to find out she's looking at the bloke next to you.

leww_rfc Fordham must literally use HNA? and Twitter as his sources.

In some ways I feel for Fordham. There does sometimes seem a correlation between what is posted on those two forums and what he says in his column. He does seem to feed on scraps from the club until they are ready to say something openly about a situation, hence his looking a mug when he's told we are not after ALFIE then days later there he is holding up the Reading shirt. There have been hints elsewhere that the Pog visa was progressing, and I do tend to believe that this club would not have let Gylfi be on the market without at least making an enquiry. Time will tell.

Being more ITK than any of those who claim to be ITK I am delighted to report that I have received a transcript of the meeting in Iceland during the last weekend between GS and his agent.

Gylfi – I think I should set out what is really important to me when joining a new club. I need to get on well with the manager. I need to know I am in his plans and that I won’t end up on the bench. Relationship with the manager is, therefore, absolutely key. So what are my options?

Agent – Well you get in well with BR at Liverpool. Brian at RFC has expressed some interest in having you back there and you had a great relationship with him. Swansea have just appointed a new manager who you don’t know and Spurs don’t have one yet - so hard to know about them.

Gylfi – Is there anything else I need to take into account.

Agent – Well Swansea are offering £25K a week, Liverpool are offering £30K a week, Reading are offering 38K a week and Spurs are offering £45K a week.

Gylfi – OK I will go away and think about it.

One second goes by.

Gylfi – Having thought about it really carefully and taken into account all the criteria I have set out to you I am going to Spurs.

SHOW ME THE MONEY

How do you know those figures. That would be a conversation had strictly in private. There wouldnt be one person making notes in that sort of thing. Unless you are his agent? :|

The only reason he'd join Tottenham is for the money. So when did Gylfi suddenly become obsessed with money? That doesn't sound like the Gylfi we know. This could all be a leak from his agent to get Liverpool to up the contract their offering. Perhaps his agent is trying to get us to up our contract offering, and we responded by telling our journo to print that we're not interested and never have (much like what has happened in the past).

I really don't get this, at all. Why would joining Spurs be about the money? In recent history they have finished about Liverpool almost every season. If they are losing Modric and/or Van der Vaart, Gylfi is almost certainly sure to be playing regularly, even more so if the rumours about the new manager are correct and he has spoken to whoever it might be and they have also said he would be playing regularly.

Redknapp, VDV and Modric gone. Those are three pretty big factors as to why they've finished so high up the table in recent years for a squad with a lot of deadwood and not as much quality as some of the teams around them. Liverpool's squad is much better than Tottenham's without VDV, Modric and Redknapp as manager and will probably finish above them next season if Tottenham's new manager doesn't have serious money to spend.

Gylfi's great but he's not as good as VDV. This new manager of theirs can do what the hell he wants when he gets appointed. That's why we thought all along he would go to a club where he knows and trusts the manager, not to managerless Tottenham who have offered him more £££££.

Don't agree at all. The manager is supposedly already in place but can't be announced yet. Remember Spurs finished 5th twice in the three seasons before Redknapp was manager. As for Liverpool's squad being better? Your having a laugh.

GYLFI - The manager of a club is the key factor in any decision I make.

40k

GYLFI - I have decided to join managerless Spurs.

European football has nothing to do with a decision to go to Spurs, should it be made?

As for trusting a pROFLofessional journalist over a mysterious internet ITKer? I'll take the one with the reliable track record who gets info first. As a clue, it ain't Fordham.

I thought it was largely accepted thast Andreas Villa-Boas was going to be their next manager, isn't the reason for the delay in naming/confirming him by Spurs is that there is an agreement with Chelsea that he will not take control of another English club before 1st July.

That shouldn't matter. Chelsea sacked him after all!

It would depend on the terms of any compensation deal.

I dont think he was saying that was the actual transcript of the call.. I suspect it may have been tongue in cheek ..

Simon's Church Not sure why he'd want to come back to the club that so cruelly forced him out of the place he so dearly loved.

He wasn't forced out, the club needed to sell-there is a subtle difference
