Royalist If that IS the case Windsor have alot more fans than many sides in league. How on earth do they survive on a handful of fans?

That's really a question for other clubs at and around Step 5. I would expect the reasons to include owning their own ground, membership fees, lack of playing budgets and excellent social club which not only serves the football club but also the local community.

Doubt many clubs are really bringing in much/any money from other means having visited them.

All i am asking is where is whatever profit being made going to. It's not a dig or with agenda just a query.

I remember Binfield published figures for their income a year or two ago, and hardly any of it (less than 10%, I think) was gate money.

More new players expected in the Windsor squad today but away to a decent Hanworth Villa outfit another spanking is on the cards. Not 8 though. Please.

... yes good luck - seen H.Villa a couple of times since they've been in the Prem and they do look a decent outfit - certainly going forward.

Interesting ground Rectory Meadows - should you be thinking of going - quite an easy journey too. Straight up the top end of the M3 - straight on (A316) and look for ground on the left after about 2 miles - take a left filter (A314 Hounslow Rd) just past it - almost immediately left again (at the 2nd roundabout) down Park Rd - keep bearing left 'til you are back parallel with the A316 then follow the road round to the end and the Club Car Park.

- on the outside looks like an absolute tip - some desultory stands being put together - one new Atcost type - clubhouse looks like something out of E.Berlin - but once inside its not half-bad.

... hmm doubt if the result from Rectory Meadows blew the cobwebs away ?

... here's the NL round up - a couple of Vase results for Wessex clubs haven't found their way into the public domain yet  official FA site seems to have 'lost' all of yesterday's results from the Vase and a fair number for the Trophy - sure they were on their site yesterday evening.

106 Sandhurst Town 6-1 Milton United
107 Newbury 6-0 Lydney Town
108 Highmoor Ibis 1-3 Wokingham & Emmbrook (aet1-1 @ FT) att: 52 – paying – headcount nearer 100. Played safe and popped along - nearly late too  - they've changed the entrance layout to what it was all last season - the access to the stand and pay table is now round the right-hand end of the big stand. Lots of 'keep out H/I spectators' type signs in and around the complex - hmmmm very welcoming :| - got interrogated by some busybody when I wandered into Reception with my youngest looking for the way in. She snootily pointed out that there were signs all over the doors - I riposted in similar tone with the view that, since I had approached from the direction of the gate they had been using ALL last season, I wouldn't have seen the *&^%ing signs!
The normal refreshments weren't available - some Tea/Coffees/Soft Drinks and a few snacks on a Table at the back of the Stand - Cycling meeting were using the RSAC clubhouse. Wok & Emm did all they could to go out at this stage - were limp and listless throughout - suspect they had a lot of their squad unavailable - H/I weren't much better. Away side missed a pen to draw level on 80' then scored from another in injury time, to take us to the extra half-hour. 'Sumas' finally found a bit of a spark and scored twice as H/I tired. Big no 5 from Highmoor went up front late on and merely re-affirmed their unwanted reputation as an aggresive and unpleasant outfit. He'd already got a Yellow for a clear elbow - nearly got another for dragging someone back by the neck as he was outpaced for the ball then lost it completely with the Ref as he was given a deserved 2nd yellow for scything down the full-back as he cleared the ball. As this prize c&ck stormed off - he offered to take on all comers hurling (deserved) abuse at him from the stands!

No new signings, and Ashe and Dunlop the 2 experienced guys weren't around.

Our oldest player was 21. And our keeper is one of the worst I've ever seen in the CCL.

Men against boys and 6-1 was a surprisingly decent scoreline in the circs. They will keep improving and we'll be ok, and proud of every point. Not quite sure where the next one's coming from though...

... well - Cove went down by the same score at home in the Vase (aet too  ) albeit against a Wantage side who could be getting somewhere back near their Hellenic title-winning form of 10/11.

Seen Cove at Sandhurst earlier this season and they too looked big and forceful going forward but all over the place defensively - so you never know ...... :?

... not sure they are all that great 'discipline-wise' either - got their fair-share of short-fused tyros.

Fair set on dashing over for: Newbury vs Binfield on Tue eve myself. :)

.... few other 'local' games the same night - Wokkers v Ascot, RTFC v Thame, Wantage v Holyport, Camberley v Farnham, Tadley v US Porstmarf, Fleet Spurs v Whitchurch.

also Fleet Town vs Merthyr - FA Trophy Prelim replay.

or should you fancy something slightly more exotic - there's Oxford City v Corby in the Conference NORTH!

FA Trophy result from today - Slough Town 2-1 Hungerford Town.

Pretty poor game, with Slough taking an early lead from a defensive mix-up. Sean Sonner got a straight red for a two-footed tackle first half, so Slough down to 10 men. Lots of pressure from Hungerford but cannot honestly recall them having a shot on target until about 70 mins. Slough doubled the lead with about 3 mins left, lovely strike, then Hungerford got a consolation in the last minute.

No James Harper (presume he's moved on after pre-season), but their no. 8 was Ian Herring... Also Michael Gilkes is Hungerford's Asst Mgr, so a small Reading connection.

Long hard slog for Windsor although played 2 of the better sides and i've not seen games results suggest relegation is a possabilty.

Wonder if Mr Stott will use little money coming in to bring in a few old heads. Then again at this level its more about who the manager knows!

Went and watched this on Sat, Binfield appeared to have their tactics all wrong for the majority of the game. Although in saying that the Reading Town keeper made a string of fine saves to keep his side in it, I would say that was more down to the deficiencies of the 10 men in front of him than great play from the Moles. A pretty poor game by all accounts, but the refurbed club house is relatively nice, and my mate said the burger he had at half time was very good. Binfield will have to improve if they are to have a say in the title race. RT have a very young side, with a few promising players. But they need to improve an awful lot to get themselves out of the relegation scrap

In other words, you wont be OK. Windsor just lurch from one extreme to the other with the way the club is run. They have all the stability of manic Bipolar Disorder.

The lads have already improved between games 1 and 2 but I think only 6 of the team that played on Monday were in the team on Saturday. A goalkeeper is the priority. Mark Banfry was on the bench on Monday but not Saturday - he played a few games last year and is a good shot stopper. Bit odd that none of the 4 experienced heads who were in Monday's team were at Hanworth on Saturday, that's Dunlop, Seedel, Ashe (who all played) and Banfry. Confusing really.

I am sure there will be some wise heads brought in but not at a cost. There is no playing budget this year.

In non Windsor news i see Maidenhead are aiming to build a 500 seater stand...for their less than 400 fans. I don't understand why non league sides do vanity projects like this! I remember Leyton doing it when they had less than 100 fans! That said the club went bust when the owner went to jail so who knows what was going on in that affair!

How many clubs at that level have a proper playing budget? Isn't the game more or less amateur by the time you get that far down?
