and to be frank, as much as we tend to like easing in with the early friendlies, going to a team who play on a school field would take it a bit far.

We are sending a young team to Eastleigh on July 9th according to McDermott's latest interview on the OS.

Pre Season friendlies are utterly dire, and should at the very least be free entry. Have not been to one since the late 90s.

It depends what you expect from them.

If you are expecting it to be like a proper match you'll be disappointed.

If you regard it as a day out with the chance to watch a match while having beer and a chat, they are fine.

I don't really like home friendlies though, unless we play someone different, like the time we played Feyenoord.

Wizard Am I being stupid or are these matches not on the OS yet?

IN for Northampton and Charlton as they both fall on days off work :)

I would be too if I got free train fare.

Pretty much this for me too. A chance to catch up with familiar faces, have a beer and dust off the cobwebs.

If they become free, you still won't go because they'll be dire...

Didcot use to be fun every year. Think around 2k Reading fans turned up one year before the Prem and I'm glad my entrance fee went to a good non-league club like them.

I'm not quite that close, but I expect I'd better turn up too.

presumably this is something to do with the player we signed from them.

M27 - could you post some pubs advice nearer the day? - cheers
