Ideal We had one single decent chance at scoring, at home, against mouthampton.. the rest were all speculative long range efforts that would never go in in a million years.
Is that good enough?

F*ck off.

Ideal The simple question was either yes or no, is one proper chance at scoring good enough, at home, against southampton.

Yet none of you seem able to answer that, you just come up with loads of excuses and namecalling. Maybe you want to answer the question, yes or no, is it good enough?

What's the question?

Pepe the Horseman
Alexander Litvinenko I'm confused.

There was the header from the corner that Morrison headed over after 5 minutes, and the ALF blaze over from 5 yards after 22 minutes, or the good save at the foot of the post from Akpan a few minutes later - which one is the "single decent chance" you're talking about?

What about the header that was possibly over the line?

Think the 'Akpan' one was Mariappa header, unless that was a different chance..

What a BS question.

OF COURSE IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH - IN ANY LEAGUE AT ANY LEVEL. WHAT POINT ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE EXACTLY SEEING AS YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION???!

I wasn't the one claiming that Adkins would bring gifts, candy and intelligent football taking us to the next level.
Clearly we've gotten worse, not only worse, but much worse. Yet people are in such strong denial they are failing to realize this very reality of things.

You're right, this is worse than having 1 shot on target and losing 3-0 at home to Wigan with 41% possession...

Ideal So we're debating semantics now, wether or not we should count one or two qualified chances against Southampton at home... surely that makes all the difference.

What a load of RTG fanatics in denial you lot are! Of course we should be creating something like 8-9 good chances at home to Southampton if we want to win the match, wtf kind of drugs are you people on!?

We would have lost just as easily with BM in charge. Get over it & move on FFS.

And LOL at you calling others on here fanatics

No. You're quite right I was thinking of something else when I was typing.

Maybe, but it does unfortunately make you look like the kind of simpleton you commonly get these days who equates the shots on target stat quoted in match reports with the number of decent chances a team has had.

What a load of RTG fanatics in denial you lot are! Of course we should be creating something like 8-9 good chances at home to Southampton if we want to win the match, wtf kind of drugs are you people on!?

I don't think anyone thinks were weren't crap for most of the game.

We had three good chances in the first half hour, as well as a strong penalty shout, before Saints had mustered a single effort worthy of the name. Had one resulted in a goal, it would have been a different story.

Instead we just saw what happens when a team low on confidence concedes a goal against the run of play to a better team, who are confident and relaxed enough to play without fear.

The way we seemed to give up wasn't acceptable, but the idea that Adkins has somehow ruined the team is ridiculous.

Form is temporary, class is permanent?

We chased short-term success by building a team out of Premiership rejects and employed tactics that would only ever be successful in the Championship.

'Short term thinking', is probably the phrase that best describes this season, from tactics, transfer, scouting, and all the rest.

I'd say this about sums it up: We gave an ageing Russian who had achieved very little a 4-year, mega bucks contract. At the same time we allowed our player of the season, young, high potential, and touted as future captain, local boy to enter the last year of his contract.

This season has been an absolute shambles from top to bottom.

I thought it was Leigertwood's fault. Or was it Jobi's?

Gotta be Jobi, didn't once see him run back and help out the brilliant Kelly or make any attempts to get balls in Saints box. Shocking performance by our captain. Mariappa was miles better than anyone else.

We've already established that it's Robert Maxwell's fault.

because we massively overachieved last year, while they (West Ham in particular) probably ought to have done better.

They also spent rather more money in the summer, and spent it on players who'd improve their first team, rather than buying players to add depth to the squad or be players for the future.

We had a mediocre midfield by championship standards last year, and we've played most of the season with an even weaker midfield, with Kebe being out so much. That's why even with five in midfield, we get completely overrun.

Because we started last season like a bottom six club until we got Gorkss to shore up the defence and we were then stunningly average mid table until we got Jason Roberts upfront. McDermott spent most of his time patching up the team after the Rodgers experiment when we gave silly goals away; and after we sold Gylfi; and after we sold Shane Long. When we had a hole Brian would find a championship solution like Legs and eventually he stumbled on the perfect championship combination of consistency and grinding out results by nicking goals.

Brian never found a solution to pace and and good movement off the ball and to be fair we rarely faced either in the championship (and when we did we struggled). Unfortunately at the next level up it is all about pace and movement off the ball and we have neither. We have a ponderously slow defence; a bunch of championship journeyman trundlers in midfield and a static slow front line that struggles to hold the ball up which is why we will finish bottom of the division.

Any rebuild may take 12-18 months as we have a major overhaul to undertake to get a team that will (a) survive the grind of the championship and (b) be able to play decent pass and move that will form the basis of a team that could hold its own in the premier league. I don't envy Adkins the task!

See the Loic Remy goal vs. Wigan for an example of why you need to spend fukking money to stay in this league. Would like to see one of our 'strikers' do that. Would like to see anybody in League Two do that. Massive LOL @ whoever it was at the club that thought buying L1/L2 players would keep us in the PL. Massive

How can they get it so wrong twice in the space of 5 years?

Whilst I agree, but doesnt Remy play for a team thats on the brink of relegation with us?

I think this whole season has been a complete waste. We try 4 years to get back up but then waste it by not investing. Only reading.

We have totally messed up by not investing but QPR have gone about it completely the wrong way. Remy must be on decent wages but is he going to stay if they go down? Samba is the biggest joke of all, £12 million transfer fee if I am correct and on £100,000 a week yet still has the nerve to have a go at the fans!

We should have spent more to keep us up but not in a way like QPR who will be in trouble next season money wise.

Under Brian, they almost were. Now they look like League 2 players (at best).
