When we were in the prem.

Wake up, bit of brekkie, find a shady link online, face the attack of the first smokables of the day for an 11am ko, head out for lunch and beers at some dirty bar.

Nowadays.

Wake up, bit of brekkie, search fruitlessly for a shady link online, smoke mercilessly while following the game through any possible media, curse making the decision to move abroad, fight with my gf, head out for lunch and beers at some dirty bar.

Royal Ginger
punkindrublic 10am - fry up at baron with a pint.
10.30 - pint.
11.00 - coral and accumulator
11.30 - Fox and hounds - 4/5 pints.
2.15 - bus to ground, with a fresh pint.
2.45 - jazz and quick pint
Half time - pint.
Final Whistle - Fox and hounds and drink more :)
Good times!

That's a minimum of 10 pints...I'm not so sure.

I would drink at least 10 on a decent fixture - aren't I cool

Can't stand the bus to the ground and back so thinking of alternatives.

Could get the 6 to Whitley/Basingstoke Road and walk 10 mins to ground.
Or get us their early - like 12
Or go to Nags Head and get their bus - I've never been there

EDIT - or go to prince of Wales in caversham. I think they used to do a bus to ground

Sebastian Stay at home, lol at losers at football. Might check ceefax for the scores.

Why bother, the scores are usually in the Sunday papers.

Last time I went to football with enough regularity for a ritual was before uni. Back then I used to work until 2, and pick up a few tinnies for the car journey. Three of us went together so took it in turns to drive, whilst the other two had four cans in the back of the car. We'd be in the stadium by 2 45, a swift pint, followed by another at half time. Drink any remaining beers in the car on the way home, before heading out to Crowthorne for a few drinks and getting the train back into Reading later in the evening.

I like the immediacy and atmosphere of live teletext

The atmosphere on teletext is more intense than the ground I'd imagine

Reading CAMRA Pub of the Year winner four times in a row with 12 hand pumps serving the widest variety of the best kept Ales in town

Arrive early to avoid disappointment as despite being double decker the bus tickets sell out sharpish.

Many disagree, but if you prefer elsewhere The Allied Arms is quality or The Hope Tap which is cheap... but then you have to get the shitty station shuttle bus which can be hit & miss :|

Sounds good. Would the whole pub stop in disgust if I went in and ordered lager?

For typical Saturday 3pm game:

Get up about 10am, head on over to the pie & mash shop at London Bridge, get Jubilee Line up to Paddington via Baker Street.
Couple of beers from M&S and a packet of salt & vinegar chip sticks on the train.
Walk up to the Nags Head and try and get a ticket for the pub bus. Say hello to The Rouge.
After the match, bus back to the Nags, couple more pints, then Mr. Zorbas for chips.
Train back to London then home.
