From Despair To Where? I'd be surprised if the Women's team cost more than £1m a year to run. Fara Williams may, as a top earner, be on something like £30,000-40,000 a year, Kelly Chambers maybe something similar but there's only about 20 players in the squad and I doubt there's many earning more than £20,000 a year.

Would be interesting to see the budget. Obviously beyond wages you have all the other usual employers costs. You’ve got coaches and physios, travel costs, pitch costs, training facilities, league fees, insurance and medical bills etc etc

I see that in the Continental Cup the Women's team have been drawn at home to Arsenal. I hope they have better luck than the men against that team. Come on the girls, show that a Reading team can beat the Arsenal. Tie due to be played 13th. or 14th. January.

It has been announced today that van den Berg (Mandy, that is) has gone back home to Holland. The club agreed to terminate her contract to allow this to happen without delay.

They played them in the same competition last month. scored the winner straight from the kick off after Arsenal equalised.

Tier 1 was renewed this week as well wasn’t it? Meaning the women will play top level footy again next season

Didn’t realise one of the stipulations of that was being full time

The Royal Forester Should they be renamed The Royal (or Reading) Princesses,* as Women or Ladies is used by most teams and it would make us that little bit different?
No, sounds a bit sexist - one step away from pink hoops.

Just call then Reading or use Reading Women's/Men's if there is a need to distinguish between the two.

I don't even think they need a different club badge, sure the women's side wasn't around in 1871 but they are part of the same club. It's a different matter with regards to sponsors, money talks - If that means they have a different shirt sponsor then go for it.

I am certain they are not siblings or husband and wife. But do not know if they are cousins or not.

Cheers R&R

In the current climate, the girlies are well worth the watch.

Yep, but they managed to wrestle a point out of the fancied Chelsea team a few weeks back (their only points dropped so far)

Good luck to them, and it’s not beyond them to get something from Citeh

Is there any way whatsoever we could borrow one of the women's teams strikers?

I'm being deadly serious.

Yeah but that means she wouldn't get a sniff of playing. Think Stam would rather play a player short.

I always hoped we'd drop Frank Irby into the mens team before she went to Chelsea.
