Ian Royal just being from a former french colony is pretty much enough to qualify for France isn't it?
Not just former French colonies, either - Dessailly was born in Ghana. To be fair, most of the former colonials in the French team moved to France as kids - Viera, for instance.
The issue is probably by the fact that France still has colonies, or at least it has overseas departments, in Guadeloup, Martinique, Reunion, and French Guiana (home of Chimbonda). These are part of France (and, therefore the EU, and the Eurozone). It would be a bit like if Gibraltar or (once upon a time) Hong Kong were legally counties of England.
