My first season. 5 promotions, 2 relegations, 1 cup win, 2 play off finals and 24 seasons later and I've seen Reading in every division.


Wolves suffering the first of 3 consecutive relegations this season. 3 seasons later, they lost to Aldershot in the 4th Division playoffs.

Oxford - I watched a little bit of Oxford vs Crawley on SKY last night - How the 'not so mighty' have fallen. From Div 1 in the 80's to The Conference now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are Oxford the only team in the conference to have played in the top flight?

Yeah, its great to a premier league club struggle to beat darlington!

Yeah it wasnt our first string team, but the players we had yesterday should be more the capable to beat darlington. Lets just hope the first team doesnt fcuk up on saturday when we play the big boys.

As a fresher at Reading Uni I turned up seconds after kick-off, to see some team in sky blue and white shirts, with navy shorts score.

(Remember that kit - I still have a shiny shirt at home even now with the legend 'Courage' rather cheaply emblazoned on the front).

I was so impressed (and hooked) that I hitch hiked up to Villa Park four days later to watch Reading in the league cup.....where we took a 3-1 tonking....and someone in the away end told me to watch out for the young lad warming to come on for us......since he was a bit quick (or something like that). The sub of course was Michael Gilkes

...happy memories.

Answering the title of this subject - yes it is great to be a Reading fan right now. Last night, chewing the cud with a few mates in the stand and someone comments at what a nice distraction a cup game like Darlington is and that it's back to the bread and butter on Saturday. The bread and butter..............Man Utd the bread and butter! You have got to be lovin' it.

Yep it's absolutely wonderful, especially as in the office am surrounded by Millwall, Brighton and Palace fance. and 1st game was against Shrewsbury town winning 1-0 Stuart Bevon from edge of area I believe in the season we won the SIMOD cup.
