I hjave been at Soccerex today at Wembley and spoke to the organisers of the Peace Cup. The only confirmed teams are Reading and Boca juniors. One other prem team will play. Interestingly Seol will not play if he is selected for Korea in the Asia Cup

Concerning transport between cities, Korea has the KTX which is comparable to the French high speed trains. They are always on time and cost perhaps a fifth of English prices. South Korea is roughly the same size as England, therefore it takes less that four hours max from top to bottom. Not everyone speaks English, unlike Japan, so that may be a slight problem.

Hotels are stupidly cheap. You are best to go to a Love Motel, which rents rooms by the hour as well as the night (depending on stamina, perhaps) but for a big room with jet bath, internet and big TV, you can expect to pay about £30. You can get cheaper or more expensive hotels but I'd stick with the mid-range, relativley cheap ones.

Beer is cheap if you are buying draught Hite or Cass, which tastes like American beer: too fizzy and too much like water. European beer can be bought in bottles for £2.50. Anyway, I recommend Soju. It tastes like weak vodka (20% proof) and it is a head f$£%, but very cheap and cultural. If you stick with me it will be Soju all round.

Dogs are eaten by a small percentage of Koreans. A lot of young Koreans object strongly to the whole thing. It's supposedly very healthy but I didn't much like it - kept thinking of my parents' dogs, which are my main trigger for homesickness.

Always a great hotel if you want a little bit more luxury is the Lotte Hotel chains (especially in Pusan with the tiger roaming round in the gardens whilst you have dinner)

If you can afford it lads do the Korea trip
Great country with fantastic people

And if you can find someone who'll drive you to the de-militrilization zone then do it just to see all the propoganda over the years which gets put up each side of the divide

Nourebang is the name for a singing room over here. RowV, I have a friend who works in Sangju. I work in Seongju, also in Gyeongsangbuk-do. My friend might have been your replacement.

I can't wait for the Peace Cup. If you are considering the possibility of coming, you definitely must! It's a very friendly, fun and cheap place. The modern architecture leaves a lot to be desired but so too does Britain's. The food and people more than make up for all that anyway. There are nice temples to visit out in the countryside.

I expect Reading to draw a crowd as everyone knows about us over here. All my school boys know Lita and Doyle etc. It's a pity the K-league isn't more popular, though the quality of football is pretty awful.

I'll hopefully see some nobbers out here, so to speak.

Just need to get the organisers to tell us when and where we are playing so i can plan the itinary !

Would be good to make some contacts at the Korean clubs where we will play. How easy do you think it would be to track down local fans ? I would guess the clubs all have HNA equivalents ?
