I often officiate at the level below Maidenhead United on the Hellenic (Ex Didcot) and to be honest the way the professional game is going the man in the street will be returning to watch football at this level in droves in the years to come, especially now as many clubs are linked up to youth teams. The standard is often very good, you are unlikely to see players, diving, rolling over etc, and the banter between most supporters is friendly and of good nature.

Having been to Madstad many times with "The Boss" I believe Reading have got the majority of their pricing policies correct, and fair play to MU for this idea, Dag & Redbridge did the same with West Ham b4 they got in the Football League.

I can see what you mean. When my son is not playing, I often go and watch Bertrange in the Luxembourg Third Division. It's great. Bar, barbecue/grill etc. Must admit I have not done an away game yet.

I get down to York Road now and again and would recommend it, espacially for the kids.

Easy to get too, cheap, good banter and you can watch from the terraces.

Whereas £41 to watch an overhyped league of prima donnas is perfectly acceptable.

damn good point, although its the rest of the league thats over hyped rather than Reading i'd say.

Football is a ridiculously overpriced affair, and for that £9 you'd probably get a lot more enjoyment and excitement than you would sat in one of the many soulless bowls in the country at double the price
