The normal way of getting money out of any business is via dividends. If AZ wished to rape RFC of money, this would mean that SJM would get nearly half. If AZ has made loans to the club (which I believe he has), he could simply call the loans in. Otherwise, he would have to give himself a bonus above his salary as Chairman/Director/Whatever which would have to be agreed by the board.

A company must make a profit in order to pay dividends.

Plus recalling the loans to RFC would devalue AZ's shareholding and possibly send it into administration which would impact his credibility and reputation..... end result, his shares will be worth less and he will have to take whatever the administrators offer for his debt.

Brighton announcing losses of £14.7m, had to sell their best players. Slowly falling down the league when once were pushing for play offs. But everyone carry on slating our owners.

Speaks volumes, highest average gate in the division, brand new ground and still in deep shite.

According to their fans, they have pulled a lot of expenses into that set of accounts whilst having new revenue streams in the next years accounts. In other words they are preparing themselves for the first set of "FFP" accounts and they believe they will be within the £8m loss.

Anyone catch the BBCRB interview with SJM this morning?

Twitter meltdown because if we don't go up then we have to slash the wage bill to a more sustainable level, and now Madejski is the most hated man in all Reading council houses.

Excellent interview. Things I enjoyed:
1) The slur as he said "Sssssangeeta"
2) "The new colonies"
3) "Johnny Foreigner"
4) The way he couldn't remember the phrase "transfer window"

SJM forever, please.

4 was genius. I think he settled for the "erm Christmas thing"

Of course it's confirmed that we definitely don't want to be promoted this season. That would be terrible.

Would you rather be a well run club working to a budget , which has given us our best ten years in my 50 watching RFC, or be like Blackburn, Birmingham,Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday or even Brighton. No one wants to end up like Pompey.
Whilst SJM may not have the money he is Reading FC through and through, Anton family had the money which is what due diligence showed, but his father got frightened by the black hole which is British football! If someone wants to buy your house, do you really know if they will complete! And what they would do with it afterwards anyway.
Good luck SJM you have my and most RFC supporters behind you.

Isn't it obvious that is what would have to happen?

How did it confirm we don't want to get promoted this season? If we get promoted this season then the injection of money will be a blessing! Yes we wont spend a great deal and we'll almost certainly come straight back down, but it will allow us to make adjustments to the wage bill when coming down again that bit easier in comparison to the huge wage bill AZ has left us with this time.

If we stay down, then as he as SJM suggested, we will need to sell to bring the wage bill down to a more sustainable level, and then as we know from past experience, there will be an annual black hole that needs filling ever summer thereafter, unless someone with money can plug that gap and allow us to invest in the team at a more competitive level again.

Some people hear what they want to hear, others just make it up

Can you quote the exact words?

You'll have a sore back tonight, what with all the ducking to avoid the things being blown over your head.

Thats a departure from before xmas and "funds will be available in January"

If John Madejski could afford a Yacht he'd be throwing himself off the back of it, Maxwell-style.

Perhaps he was confident the take over deals in the offing would be completed in time? Maybe Anton had promised some funds but never came through with them (which wouldn't surprise me considering the last summer window). Just saying maybe Madejski isn't at fault here.

Maybe "The Zingarevich Family" in their desperation to launder (sorry offload) their assets proposed two great deals - except they weren't that great?

Why does everyone seem to think SJM is the fire sale person? He's the one that says the club is staying put, albeit on tighter purse-strings.

Careful what you wish for
