They've been beaten 10-0, 7-0 and 10-0 in their last 3 games, and we're apparently mentioned on Sky Sports News the other day.
Big game for Slough tomorrow, away to Burnham. Expect big crowd, mainly Slough of course, although I expect that Windsor's will be bigger.

.... free entry @ Stag Meadow too - hope they've got enough Pies in for the hordes of 'Donkeys' - parking round there might be a hoot too - expect delays to KO unless they open all of their turnstiles! :? ?

Been a busy BH w/e so far so here's a lengthy double 'Review and Preview' - not too many 'twiddly bits' - sorry!
I'm thinking of getting out soon for a double myself and can't spend too long on it - possibly starting down in the County Level for the first one then back nearer home for a 15:00 KO - not sure either of my sons are out of bed yet?

Windsor 1-6 Guernsey.

Better game than that suggests. In Ross Allen, G have a striker who will do a job at League 1 or 2. Absolutely class, fast and clinical.

Windsor's 3 best players imo were all 17 yo.

With the free admission/bank holiday/Guernsey novelty factor, what size crowd was there?

513. I think we're averaging something like 160 so a decent turnout. Would have been more without the Chelsea v ManU clash I'm sure.

thanks for that RR

Used to knock about with one of their players (and subsequently visit SM back in the very early 90's).....back when they were reasonably good and used to pay their players which included Jerry Williams (probably the seed for all things financially bad these days) recall the crowds being about the 2 to 3 hundred mark.

I am assuming that Guernsey dont get a cut of todays (non) gate receipts

It's a bit of a pisser that I have not been able to see anything of Windsor since the 6-0 defeat of Croydon by the paid brigade, but from afar, Mick Woodham has done a brilliant job considering the situation he was faced with. It just goes to show what can be achieved at that level. Provided he can keep the nucleus of this squad together, and have a full pre-season with them, next season could be good fun.

... some nasty rumblings coming in from the NLM Forum of late re the future of the Hellenic.

So poorly off are the ground-level STEP06 & 07 feeder leagues for the Hellenic Premier, that they are supposedly touting around offering places to potentially relegated clubs from their adjacent constitutions. The numbers required for the FA to consider the STEP6 leagues as viable feeder division are only met by the inclusion of several 'Reserve' clubs.
Below that the Wilts league is at least 75% Reserve clubs - albeit with creative naming conventions masking their true identity. Village clubs around the area are folding on regular basis - this season for example I believe the N.Berks has already lost a couple more at least. (Harwell & Benson)

It is rumoured that Holmer Green (nr Wycombe) and Sandhurst have been offered places in the Hellenic Premier next season. They are likely to 'lose' Marlow back to the Southern from whence they dropped but it is unlikely anyone else will be coming down at the end of 12/13.
As previously mooted Sholing & Winchester will drop to Wessex and Woodford will drop to the UCL (or further?)

They've lost Witney - and Wokingham & Emmbrook are also said to be voluntarily demoting themselves - potentially even back to the Reading Leagues - they cannot afford rent at Larges Lane and will probably return to Lowther Rd for next season.

Elsewhere some of their 'flagship' clubs are seriously re-considering their future at STEP05 - Ardley and Abingdon Town for instance are getting woeful attendances and local players which are their lifeblood are refusing to step up out of the Witney, Banbury, N.Berks, Oxford Senior leagues etc because of the travelling involved.

Both Tytherington & Brimscomb - clubs in the Gloucester/Cirencester area, with cash and ambition, are more likely to head into the Western leagues to progress - following Winterbourne Utd.

Witnessed 2 defeats for Maidenhead this weekend both at the hands of very mediocre mid table teams that we made look far better than they are. That's 7 str8 defeats and we're now in the bottom 3

Fair to say we were relying on Wall too much this season and this run has coincided with him leaving. It doesn't help that we haven't replaced him adequately, Pacquette has a gr8 record with us from previous spells but has been hot garbage so far. I'd toler8 the petulance and constant dissent and moaning at the ref if he were playing well but he missed two open goals yesterday in the space of about 90 seconds when the game was at 1-1, he has the first touch of a clumsy rapist and can't (be bothered to) jump.

Hopefully a few Admins in the summer will keep us up.

It's been fun this season.

Although I do agree with you about the prospects for next season, the squad does need more experience and muscle that will stick around. Both will come of course as the youngsters develop (if they stay) but, although they have done very well, they have been well short of Top 2 material without Harris and Ellis imo.

Trouble is, without a playing budget it seems we will always struggle to keep hold of decent experienced players for any length of time. On that basis I would imagine we'll remain in the CCL for a while yet. (Which is fine by me.)
