sandman So she's right then. You don't have any facts about Mills' behaviour just stories from other parties.

She asked for examples. Not facts. It's pretty much impossible to prove anything like that. We had only one or two hard facts about Leroy and he was about as dodgy as they come these days.

Don't see any point in carrying on any further when it's obvious anything that doesn't fit a certain view will be instantly dismissed. She asked, I provided.

Royal Lady I'd be interested in some examples of Mills being "gobby" btw - I think it's a complete myth. All this "he thinks he's better than he is" etc - I've NEVER seen any evidence of it. :|

You gave the example but freely admitted that you weren't there so you have no evidence.

FiNeRaIn 5 million in for mills, 250k to be spent on a replacement.

Well it is the reading way! I for one wanted Mills to stay but for him to want to sign on for leicester says it all. Happy for him to jog on and take his 25k a week

Just happy when this is all done now, its getting boring!

You never know he might reject leicester :?

Why not? That's more than we spent on any of Ingimarrson, Shorey, Doyle, Kitson, Long, Sidwell.........................................

In fact, come to think of it, we had a whole team a few years back that was promoted with a record 106 points that can't have cost much more than Leicester paid for Mills..............................where did our promotion party takes place?

So Mills will be a Leicester player next season. Ah Well.
It's goood money for not a bad player, but one hampered by a very short fuse when on the pitch.

Will his big money arrival there transform the Foxes into world-beaters? Who knows?

What it does demonstrate, however; is a declaration of intent by that football club.

Sure, they might get it all wrong, come the end of the season, and find themselves up sh1t creek, but the thing that I am most sure of is that the fans up there are going to me mobilised and motivated to attend games.
A team that's "going for it" is going to be easier to sell the corporate stuff to. Advertisers, like ambitious competitive sportsmen, want to be associated with forward momentum.
Who'd pay proper money for an executive box or the shirt sponsorship at Cleethorpes?

We, as RFC, have to sacrifice our better players because we can't fill our stadium every week (as someone previously on this thread has mentioned), just because we lose (at our guess) £2M a year.

I have been involved in sales for most of my working life, and understand that sometimes the market needs stimulation. It's the reason for things like the January sales. You have to motivate people to part with even more of thier money, after they've spent too much on Christmas.
The shops do it for this reason.

I'm not asking for RFC to go out and sign Messi. I just want them, (and the party loyalists on here) to think about the concept that trading losses could also be soved by increased sales, not just reduced costs.

Send a signal out. Motivate the fan base, Motivate the corporates.
The slowly collapsing, self sufficient balloon isn't working.

The only intent that they are declaring with this particular purchase is that they intend to over pay for reasonable but not that good players on the basis of their performances on TV in the big games.

That's your opinion, mate.
The point I was making was that those games are more likely to be sold out (even if on telly) as a consequence of that declaration of intent.
More seats sold + more corporate money = less requirement on quality player sales to balance the books.

OK. But it's not much of a point as adding Mills to the squad isn't going to really add much in the way of seats sold plus corporate money.

Best £5 million ever......glad to see him go. I know we are now short at CB, but Mills was an average player with a short fuse. I'm rather surprised that Leicester wanted him. They are welcome to him, even when he was playing well there was always a mistake or tantrum in him.

Apols if any of this mentioned elsewhere. 14 pages<<<<<<<<<<my attention span.

Feds has just re-tweeted Dominic Alderton (on here?) on his twitter thingy:

@Adamfederici85 ask millsy why he's leaving for a worse team?!

http://twitter.com/#!/Adamfederici85

People only re-tweet things they believe!!!!! Apparently a few of the players have re-tweeted the same thing.

Observations are:

Great money for the club (most of which we won't get to spend, but I'll hold judgment for now)
Why has he been kissing the arse of fans on his twitter feed? (he only created a new account a few weeks back)
Why go to Leicester?! (next season's Middlesborough of this season just gone, if you drift my catch)
Did Wolves really not have an extra few quid to match the deal?
Why come out with all that bull about being proud of being our captain and wanting to stay?!

All that said I am kind of non-plussed that he has gone. It is a top top fee for him. I am just surprised it wasn't to Stoke or Wolves. The fact that it is Leicester suggests that money talks and bullsh1t walks.......
