If Gunter can cross with a bit more accuracy a bit more often he can be a real quality RB as he is getting in the right positions time and time again but its just his final ball letting him down a lot.

Gorkss was outstanding last season but should probably be let go. Although that would potentially mean having to buy 2 CB's and there are other areas I would like to spend the money

Gorkss will be absolutely fine as a squad player next season. Carroll would have been a handful for anyone today,

"No I'm not joking. One awful game doesn't make him shite overnight. He was great for us last season. Besides - even if he did go, calling him a cnut is just plain out of order."

Put your dummy back in. It's just a name, don't be too butt hurt over naughty words.

Also, one awful game? Where have you been??? He's been awful for the entire campaign, when played, which is what? 11 games?

In the PL yes - but we're not in the PL now are we?? He was great for us in the championship & I'd wager would be a more solid option than Morrison next season.

Glad I slept through that rather than watch us sum up our season in one match. Gorkks probably shouldn't have played but calling him a cnut after what he has done for us in the past is out of order and also sums up a certain element of our fans this season.

Sorry but you're spoilt brats and quite frankly deserve the relegation.

That guy 'blueroyal' (or whatever his name was) was clearly just trolling. You should have just blocked him like I did, but no, people kept feeding him all match.

You're right....WAS.

That's the problem with some Reading fans, sounding so alike Liverpool fans by reminiscing on the past.

Time to let go and bring in fresh blood.

Tina from Tilehurst on BBC Berks - she's finally learnt our manager's name! :D

Apparently McCarthy should be using his 'fantastic kick!'? :|

He was one of our best players IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP and has won 2 championship titles in the last 3 years so with respect - you're talking out of your ass. Even if he doesn't start he is a useful 3rd choice that won't cost the earth.

This week is the time for Nige to get into his office and sort out who`s going and who`s staying, I trust him on that judgement

Talking out of my ass? How old are you?

I will agree that he could be a good 3rd choice defender, a year older, he's slower now than he was 18 months ago. A year down the line and he is way past his best. Nah......new blood please

I don't think my age has anything to do with you talking bollox but since you asked it's 32.

Well, it does really. Cause I honestly thought you were around 14 the way you come across and I didn't want to carry on talking to a child.

I think Gorkss & Mariappa will be the 1st choice pairing next year with Morro as back up personally. We shall see.

Morrison hasn't done that well & still has a lot to learn although I concede the chump is more forgiving.

Plus being on loan at Molineux must have been a very negative experience so surely allowances must be made for that? Must have been torturous for him being around all those in-breds for so long.

According to this, if Wolves had stayed up, Gorkss was set to go there permanently on £25,000 p/w.

Presumably this is what he earns at Reading, if so "won't cost the earth" doesn't seem like an accurate description.
I can now see why NA played him today: put him in the shop window (probably didn't work that well though).

As an asset, I think we might be able to sell Gorkss for ~£250k, but I would shift him for less or free, to get him off the wage bill.
25K p/w (if that's correct) with one year left on his contract, is a cost of over £1.25 million.

If we shift him we'll have £1.25 million+ to get in a 3rd choice cb (to spend on transfer and 1 years at least wages). We could get in a promising cb from L1 or L2 for ~£250k (like Morrision cost) on £5-10k per week. At the end of the first year, we'll have spent less money (than if we'd kept Gorkss), have an asset of real value (as opposed to a player leaving on a free), be better set for the long term (as opposed to a short term fix). It is also possible that on the pitch the player we bring in will perform as well as Gorkss would have.

Personally, at cb next season I'd like to see a partnership of Mariappa and Morrison, with a new young signing from L1/L2 and possibly Michael Hector (he's been good out on loan) competing for 3rd choice and putting pressure on the 2 starters.

No way is he earning £25k pw. And no way would Wolves be in the position to pay that either. Don't believe that at all sorry.
