Reading is a good club, but as a club you dont stand for anything as such.

I've read on here people saying reading are bigger than pompey?

Reading are a good family club who like wigan, have brought themselves up. Pompey, well, their potential is endless. With a new 36k ground imminent, this giant looks good. For the minute, we create our own history on the pitch.

You're a good club, like brighton and aldershot. But you're nowhere near in the same stature as Pompey or scummers (dare i say it).

Portsmouth is the daddy of all southern clubs.

The club offered Little a deal that was obviously satisfactory to him - he was about to sign then received a call from a club established in the top half of the PL and going into Europe.

Why does our failure to keep him signal a lack of ambition and such anger at RFC and its management? It's utterly bizarre and emotional nonsense.

Still, it gives a few people a lovely opportunity to vent their spleen about last season again.

The fact is that the player is old (in footballing terms), injury prone and quite unlikely ever to sustain a full season.

Look forward, not back.

Good luck to him - I hope he does well, but fear he will struggle.

Well good luck Glen and thanks for all your efforts for the club.

Glen was often seen out and about (around Reading) with Oster, I had seen them one time or another so they were clearly good mates...

...Oster, one of his mates leaves so that leaves him obviously missing him and I would have thought on a personal level impacted some of his feelings.

He is not getting any younger and to be offered the chance to keep his family afloat for a few more years at his age - he has to take it.

I also hear that he was not too partial about shopping at Waitrose, our new sponsor and that he prefers Marks And Spencer. So the conflict of preferred supermarket had the possibility of him getting suspended for not shopping in the chosen store and the loss of his clear friend John, was too much!

Again on a serious note tho, thank you Glen for everything. You've been a good solider for the club.

At least he can say he played for a Bankrupt club. With £60K a week, £70K a week etc all signing, we are going to challenge Administration in years to come.

Reading is a stable club, not much like Bournemouth and Portsmouth. The club have never been or never will be in debt as big as Pompey.

For example, whats readings finance history like:

Pompey:

£22M in debt
£44M in debt
£86M in debt

Not forgetting another - £40M this year too.

You may be hearting, and without him youll do well, but hand on heart you know he deserves it. When hes got grandkids he'll be able to say he played for the famous Portsmouth F.C before they went out of business x

Stunned, absolute stunned. Only found out 45 minutes ago. Difficult to make a position where I can judge. At 32/33, he only has a couple of seasons left in him so he's due the right to have a spell at Portsmouth and in the Premiership again, however I can't agree with the the reasoning behind money, mainly due to the fact he has wasted an awful lot of money as a Reading player through his gambling exploits. From the club's perspective, as gutted as they'll be to lose him, he was probably amongst the top earner's at the club so it eases the pressure on the wages. Not quite sure where I stand on the claims he "done a number" on the club having stood by him on his hernia injury. I think he was poorly advised by the club's medical department and was out for an awful lot longer than he should of, and Coppell acknowledged that a couple of weeks ago in the EP.

Have many a favourite Glen moment but just seeing the guy run down the wing time after time doing defender after defender will probably be my everlasting memories.

Question for all posters, where does he rank amongst the greatest of Reading players?

I'm with those that wish Glen good luck and thanks for the memories.
Now with 7 weeks to go the club must surely be developing a clear picture of who we are going to be left with compared to last year's fiasco of waiting and banking on Glen to be fit.
Their thinking should not be befuddled this time.
Glen has gone
Oster has gone
Fae has gone
Harper will go
Shorey will go
Hunt will probably go.
That means two wingers,one left-back and one central midfielder all of whom would be regarded as first choices by the club.
So we are probably down to 7 of a first choice team that got relegated so were not good enough for The Premiership.
My hope is that the club will be active in the transfer market well before the season starts.
My fear is that we are doing a 1994/5 all over again when we had no parachute payments to fall back on which we now have.
Surely the £11 million of parachute money plus fees of about £10 million for players being sold plus savings in salaries will mean that we can at least buy a few new players to IMPROVE our side and give us a chance of promotion?
I'm not holding my breath and just fear that one of our two best strikers might go.
Good strikers are almost priceless as can be seen at all levels of the game so although Glen going is a bit sad it's nowhere near as significant as losing Kitson or Doyle.

Why should he be?

Calling a player 'Judas' for signing for a Premiership club which is in Europe when given the choice of that or a Championship club which hasn't shown any great ambition to get back into the Premiership this season, with a higher salary thrown into the bargain, is either naive (showing that fans expect players to have loyalty to the clubs, when there is no reason why they should) or stupid.
