This story isn't true a a £5 million fee was agreed, Reading reneged on it saying he wasn't for sale. He now is but surprise, surprise not at the original fee.

It's a sellers market and if West Ham want him Reading are going to make damn sure they get top dollar.

Too right. Why should we sell him for peanuts? If indeed, we wish to sell him at all, which I doubt.

I agree, I don't think he's worth it mind, but it isn't my money.

If Konchesky is worth the reported £3.5 million that Fulham paid then our Nicky is worth at least £7million.

Reneged? You're not still peddling that crap?

Re your last comment, ever consider that we want more money because we don't really want to sell him in the first place?

Exactly, and lets also stick to the facts. Both Hammond and Coppell have said in televised interviews that: -
1) We don't want to sell Shorey in this transfer window.
2) We haven't recieved any bids for Nicky.

But if some tenth-rate hack at The Sun newspaper says West Ham are bidding it must be true.

He wants to leave and he wants to join West Ham stick your heads in the sand all you like, there are only two ways this will end up. West Ham get their man or Reading will have an unhappy player.

Bullshit. He has never said he was unhappy. Where do you get your info that he was unhappy? Apart from dodgy sources like posters from your DUMB site.

If Shorey really does want to leave, I am puzzled as to why he would chose West Ham. Apart from the obvious and much labored 'local' connection, it's not as though he would be bettering himself at Upton Park.

Spacey, at some point you will need to accept that there is SOME truth to this.

Absolutely true, but he may also want a winner's medal of some description.

Well if thats the case then really he'd only be better off joining the "big four" (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd) and that's very doubtful.

There seems little doubt that West Ham are trying to force a sale, but it hardly takes a spurious link with a 'hack' to tell you that.

The very obvious flaw in the whole argument (other than the unlikely detals provided by our on the spot reporter in Melbourne) is that Shorey is so desperate to leave that he hasn't asked for a move !

If he wants to go then he simply has to put in a transfer request, which he hasn't done.

I also laugh at Mel's crazy use of the word 'renege', as has been pointed out before, West Ham are unpopular enough with the rest of the football world without getting all uppity about other clubs being so presumptuous as to not hand over players for whatever West Ham decide to value them at.

If Shorey leaves then I'll wish him good luck, but until he does I'll continue to want something a bit more meaty than the third hand, unsubstantiated, insubstantial stuff Mel has been pushing out before I get worried.

I've heard this will happen and he will play Saturday against us.

Of course this is bullshit because the player has said he's happy to stay!!!

I would imagine that IF it happens, the club will not allow it to be pushed through until the last possible minute meaning he won't be eligible to play on Saturday.

I doubt they could time it so WHU can sign him but he's not eligible to play on Saturday. The deadlines must be the same surely ?

If it did happen though you would imagine there is no way he could play on Saturday - he wouldn;t have trained with WHU for a start !

It certainly used to be that a player had to be signed by 5pm the day before a game to be able to play the next day. Leave the deal until 11.59pm and it's sorted.

This could have changed of course.
