M Brook All joking and local rivalry aside, this is very bad news for football. The Premier League has much to apologise for. A wise man once said that football will eat itself. Aldershot are just a starter.

You can't really blame the Premier League and today's mad TV money for Aldershot's demise? It's a small town, and an army town at that. Although they were doing OK before they sold to this idiot, that club could never sustain itself in the long-term.

Coventry will groundshare with Northampton next season. 7500 capacity. Every game's an away game.

Just to make this more interesting, the fixtures have both Northampton and Coventry playing matched fixtures, so they're both home or both away for virtually all of the season.

Not sure the FL will allow this to happen.

Northampton play at home on Saturday and Coventry on Sunday.

Although given the few Cov fans that will make such a trek they could probably play one after the other on the Saturday.

Bet it doesn't happen though.....

Aldershot - back from the brink?

If so, fair play to them and their fans.

How did Aldershot let themselves get into that sort of trouble again anyway? What's the background here.

New owner (presumably with eyes bigger than his wallet) + promotion wasn't it?

They should just switch all of Coventry's home and awaway fixtures around

Almost certainly Coventrey and Northampton are "paired" in the fixture compilation process, so if they did that they'd have to also do the same to Northampton - which would make a net effect of zero.

But doing that would cause horrendous problems to every other team that Coventry plays - for instance that change would mean that when Coventry they play Sheffied Utd away that would be on a day when Wednesday are at home as well......

Already addressed:

When home fixtures clash, Northampton's games will take priority.

"If both teams are at home on the same weekend, Coventry will play on the Sunday and, if there is a midweek clash, Coventry will play on the Wednesday," said Cardoza.

"No Northampton Town games will be moved as part of this arrangement, subject to any television requirements."

When Coventry do get to stop ground-sharing, and putting their fans out, they plan to build just an 18,000 all seater - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 05173.html

That's quite some difference to the Ricoh. It's not often you see a club leave an older ground (that I quite liked actually) to move to a bigger ground, then end up leaving that ground for a stadium not much less than 50% smaller, and smaller than what you left in the first instance. What a shame for their fans. I really feel for them. It was a good club until they started spending unwisely; and only God knows what they were thinking moving to the Ricoh when they agreed the football club wouldn't make any money from food and drink sales, advertising revenue etc. How did they expect the club to survive? You can't just hope to get back to the Premier League and it be enough.

Former Coventry City vice-chairman Gary Hoffman has come up with a sensational deal that would keep the Sky Blues playing at The Ricoh Arena – but he says it has been rejected out of hand by Sisu.

Hoffman, who has attempted to negotiate a number of deals to buy out the owners, is now offering to pay the Ricoh rent for the next three seasons and underwrite any compensation incurred if City pull out of their agreement to groundshare with Northampton Town.

Only club that springs to mind is Darlington. What an utter shambles that was.
