Good luck, Shane. Thanks for everything. You'll go down as a Reading Legend. I'll always remember your two goals against Derby in the Championship-winning season right in front of us and also having a little chat with you after a friendly match against Didcot when you signed my Irish flag. A nice bloke and a credit to your profession. We are proud to have had you.

Has anyone seen the interview Brian gave on the OS talking about Longs departure you can see him well up and he looks like he is about to burst out in tears. He was obviously very close on a personal level and I think Shane stayed with Brian's family when he first came over from Ireland.

Shane, you and Kevin Doyle are the reasons I discovered HNA? - Reading owes you a debt of gratitude for that. All the best with WBA.

As I have often pointed out, the reason Shane's form improved so much last season was explained in The Tipperary Star - a tribute to Snowball ..

Thanks Shane,
i have been most impressed with your attitude to work hard and learn, because of that you developed massively.
All the best at a good footballing side with a good respected manager

Now go and score more next season than Andy Carroll like we know you can.

A well deserved return to the top level by a player who served us really well and waited patiently in the hope that that opportunity would come with us.

Like Doyle and Sidwell, continued to give his all for the team's/club's cause until the transfer went through and should be thanked and respected for that.
